That was basically browned hamburger, velveeta and some dice hot jalapenos? It did not have rotel tomatoes in it. This was the dip to bring to parties around the mid to late 80's possibly. If anyone else remembers, was there anything else in it? I don't know what triggered this memory and I made it so many times that I can't believe I don't remember it for sure now! It was one of those "I don't need to write down the recipe cuz it's so easy I remember it by heart" LOL.
Thanks

I've made this dip for a large gathering:
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, diced
1 packet taco seasoning
1/4 cup water
2 lbs Velveeta, cubed
16 oz can chopped green chiles
8 oz can tomato sauce
1 tbsp diced jalapeno peppers
Brown beef and soften onion in large skillet over medium heat. Drain any grease.
Simmer taco seasoning and water with beef and onions for 5 minutes.
Place Velveeta in slow cooker. Stir in beef mixture, chiles, tomato sauce, and peppers. Cook on low until cheese is melted, stirring occasionally.

There's one recipe that has your exact ingredients plus 1 can of cream of mushroom soup added, could that be it?

In my area of the country we have one with ground beef that's called White Castle dip (after the fast food restaurant).
1 lb. brown/drained ground beef
1 large loaf of Velveeta Cheese, diced
1 packet onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk (if needed to thin)
Combine all ingredients on Low in slow cooker.
We served it with Fritos, I think

I made this yesterday, yummy.
1 pound of hamburger
1 pound of mild sausage
2 8 oz blocks cream cheese
1 24 oz jar of mild salsa
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
8 oz Velveeta shredded cheese.
Cook meats, drain off grease, add rest of ingredients. Heat til bubbly.Serve with tortilla scoops.
You can use just all hamburger or all sausage, but the mixture is nice. I used a 1 oz ladle to serve it with. They sorta drizzled it over the tortilla scoops.
If you want is spicier use hotter sausage and salsa. I was serving senior citizens and the mild was just fine. Many asked for the recipe.
