I love liver!   Liver and onions (one of the only ways I will eat onions)  Chicken livers in port wine.  SOO good.   I like oysters on the half shell.  No condiments,  just yummy briney oyster  and snails broiled with garlic butter too.  I agree you never know until you try. 

I do hope the OP will try again as it does sound like she got a bad piece of liver as well as not being prepaired for the flavour of  organ meat.

@2blonde.  Same situation here.  I never want to eat it again - my mother loved it.  My husband loves it to but I don't even care for the cooking smell. He is delighted when it's on the menu at a restaurant.

Love liver, beef, chicken and calves. I consider it a treat. Fresh liver shouldn’t smell.

There are many other foods that are iron rich.

I know I ate some when I was a kid. My mom fried it. Did not tell me what it was until I ate it. LOL!!!

I have always loved liver, fried onions and gravy and still eat it to this day!!

EWE!  Never!

All organ meats are terrible for us, expecially the liver and kidney, as they contain the most toxins!

Wouldn't go near any of them.  My mother MADE us eat liver.  I hated her for that.  Made me gag.  We were not allowed to leave the table until we had eaten all of her freaking fried leather liver.
