Anyone have a "different" recipe using ripe bananas??

I have a weird affliction! I really like bananas, but I buy them and then I don't remember to eat them, so they get too ripe and I have to throw them out. Don't know why I do this-but it happens all the time.

So I would love to have some recipes for something different using ripe bananas that, if you keep them another day, they'll wind up in the trash. I've got my favorite recipes for banana pudding and banana bread, but you may have a different take on those. Or do you know of something else I could make using these ripe bananas that make me feel so guilty when I have to put them in the trash??{#emotions_dlg.confused1}{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

You need a yonanas machine. No bananas end up in my trash. Sometimes I am just waiting for them to go brown. You chop them up, freeze them and turn them into nice cream. Wink. It's really good mixed with other fruit. You can clearly taste the bananas always so since you like them this would be perfect for you.

Hi Kittymom,

I saw Banana Crunch Muffins on The Barefoot Contessa the other day. I haven't tried them, but they look/sound wonderful. You can find them HERE.

Do you like smoothies? I freeze bananas and then use in my morning smoothies. Today's smoothie was bananas, mango, spinach, and protein powder in hemp milk. You could also cook frozen bananas with oatmeal, if you like cooked bananas.

Re: Anyone have a ""different"" recipe using ripe bananas??

We buy lots of bananas, my kids have them almost every day. So we too have them going bad all the time. I now always peel the bad ones and throw them in a zip bag and in the freezer. Great to pull out when you want to bake or make a smoothie.

I know it's a bread, but we love Jerry's Chocolate Banana Bread posted by Carol1229. It is chocolate with mini chocolate chips in it...yumm!! If you enter on the left <---- under the search topic - recipe swap in the first box, and put 'banana bread' in the second box(search box), the first result that comes up is "Looking for a great recipe for moist bananna(that's how it is spelled) bread" . That recipe is there and many others, there are also banana cake recipes too.

This is a breakfast favorite in our house...give it at try! Baked Oatmeal with bananas and blueberries.

Thanks for the responses so far! In looking up recipes for Banana Bread as suggested by bigcat, I've seen several references to Antonella Nester's Banana Cake, but I can't find the recipe. Does anyone have it or know how to find it? I'd love to see what it is.
