I put a package of onion soup mix and water on top of thing sirloin. Then I put the heat on what I thought was low, but was actually high. The meat is slightly burned and chewy. Is there anything that will help make it chewable---more cooking on low or something? Or do I have to throw it away?
Thank you for all the good suggestions. Never thought to grind it up. Turns out I added water and a can of beef gravy, cut it into small pieces, and served it over mashed potatoes. Didn't get any complaints.

It's not gonna taste like serloin anymore. Maybe put it through the grinder, make a little more onion gravy and serve it on toast for a snack.
I would not throw it away.

Grind it up and mix with some mayo and Heinz Chili Sauce for a delicious sandwich spread,.

Put a gravy over it and cook it on low (stovetop). Stir occasionally. Add onions/bell pepper if you like.
Low heat in gravy will put some moisture back in it.

I was going to recommend a fine chop then adding vegetables and gravy to make a stew or broth to make a soup.
Normal bite sized pieces will remain dry and likely tough so the smaller the pieces the better.
An alternative would be to food process the meat to a thick puree seasoned to your liking and used as a spread or dip.
If you think it is inedible as is use it to experiment rather than simply throw it out.

Only thing I can think of is to cut it into shorter pieces and shred so they will not be too long & stringy and put BBQ sauce and serve on buns or similar. Try to use a stand mixer to shred or an electric mixer. You can even try to cut off the very well overdone burned areas and discard. Do not give to a dog because of the onion which can be fatal.

If it tastes at all burnt I would throw it out. No use spending time and energy to try to fix it,

@geegerbee Maybe if you post a pic, the helpers here can give you better suggestions.
I have no clue what "slightly burnt" sirlon looks like. Sirlon is burnt or not. You mentioned "chewy." To me that's crusty burnt. Without a pic, hard to tell.

I would salvage the roast by cutting into small pieces and adding to V8 juice and broth along with onions and barley to make beef and barley soup.
