Almost Shepherds Pie

2 pounds ground beef

1/2 medium onion...chopped

2 cans (14 1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes...undrained

3 cups frozen peas

2/3 cup ketchup

1/4 cup minced fresh parsley

2 tablespoons flour

2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules

2 teaspoons dried marjoram

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

Potatoes for top..recipe follows

In a large skillet, cook the beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the next nine ingredients. Bring to a boil. Cook while stirring for 2 minutes.
Pour into an ungreased shallow 3-qt. baking dish. Make the potatoes for top. Drop by 1/2 cupfuls onto beef mixture.
Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until bubbly and potatoes are lightly browned

POTATOES FOR TOP:

3 lbs small red skinned potatoes

1 stick butter

2 heaping Tablespoons sour cream

1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 c grated cheddar OR Colby Jack cheese

6 slices bacon....fried crisp and crumbled (or you can use bacon bits)

1/4 teaspoon minced garlic

chives

seasoned salt

ground black pepper

small amount of cream OR milk OR evaporated milk ...if you like potatoes a bit thinner

scrub potatoes and cut into quarters leaving skins on (half lenghtwise, then half crosswise)
place in large pot and bring to boil
cook until fork tender
Drain potatoes and pour into large bowl
cut butter into pieces and add to potatoes
add remaining ingredients
Using hand mixer on med/low speed, cream potatoes to desired consistency
If you like the potatoes a little thinner, SLOWLY pour a little milk (cream, etc) to desired consistency
Put by 1/2 cupful on top of meat mixture. Bake as directed above.
