Re: Air Fryer Recipe Thread

[ Edited ]

Made the Blue Jean Chef's Pickle Brine Fried Chicken, it was really good and juicy.  I butterflied a chicken breast, brined it in Pickle Juice and breaded.  I assembled in the am and refrigerated until dinner.  The breading was excellent.  Next time I will brine in buttermilk and Franks hot sauce.

Wow! So glad I found this thread! I love my Air Fryer but would  like more tested recipes to try..

.I will share a very easy one that I just made. Simple but tasty!

I scrub white potatoes and cut them into small chunks.(do not peel them) Put them in a Lock and Lock and add a small amount of Zesty Italian Dressing. Snap the lid on and shake the potatoes vigourously distributing the dressing evenly. Drain any excess dressing from your potaotes before adding them to your Air Fryer.

Set temperature and time according to yiour Fryer specifications.

They are the perfect compliment to any dish and taste delicious!

@Chicagoan

I think that brining chicken in pickle juice is something that Chic-fil-a does.  i know their copycat recipes call for doing that.  Like buttermilk, it tenderizes the chicken.

I think I will do some fried apple pies using biscuit dough and apple filling then drizzle with powdered sugar and water icing.  This woud make doing them super easy as it did for making fried chicken.  I've got some chicken breast that would be perfect for that recipe.  They are so thick, so butterflying them is perfect.  How long did you cook yours and at what temp?

Oh, what do you think about doing suasages in here. I have some frozen chicken sausages that would be tastey. Should I thaw them first and add a bit of water to the bottom?

@Tigriss.... Hi, I haven't made sausage in the AF yet, but, others in my FB air fryer groups have said they were really good in it.  I think they did it on 360F for about 15 minutes watching them carefully and turning frequently.  Are you on Facebook? There are great AF groups posting many recipes and comments and recipes are saved under "Files".  My fav group on FB is  "Cook's Essentials Air Fryer", tons of tips and pictures.

@qvc4 I totally agree with you!  I also have made potatoes in the AF, they come out amazing.  They are now my go to way of making roasted potatoes.  I quarter peeled red potatoes, put in ziplock bag with olive oil, garlic salt and oregano and shake.  Then cook in the AF, also good with bell peppers and onions.  If your on Facebook, check out the AF groups such as Cook's Essentials Air Fryer group, great recipes, tips and pics.  My AF is my new best friend, love that machine!

@chicagoan I am on FB. I'll head over and check out the group. I just poped them in for around 360 for 4 minutes, then I'll turn and do another 4 minutes or so. If I don't do it like that, I'll forget to turn the darned things.

@Tigriss I have made sausages in my AF and they come out great but let me tell you some of my mistakes so you don't repeat them.

First off, I always thaw everything out before I make it in the AF unless it is something thin like a frozen chicken patty.  When making the sausages, I wouldn't go above 350 degrees and please check and turn them often.  I sliced mine up and ended up overcooking them.  They were great out of the fryer but were inedible in terms of leftovers.  I did not add water to the bottom of the container and clean up was no problem.  If done properly, they are delicious.

I got them out a bit a go. They were done, but not with the crispy skin because of the water in the bottom. Next time, I'll do them without the water and lower the temp to 350 to prevent any smoking. They were thawed in cold water, so I at least didn't make the mistake of cooking them frozen.
