Honey Dill SALMON Spread

8 oz. smoked (or regular) SALMON

8 oz. cream cheese, softened

1 Tablespoon Honey Dill Mustard *

1 cup pecans, chopped

1 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Combine nuts and parsley in a bowl; set aside.  Mix SALMON, cream cheese and mustard together and shape into a ball.  Roll in the chopped pecans and parsley until completely coated.  Refrigerate.  Serve with favorite crackers or cocktail rye bread.

* I could not find Honey Dill Mustard so used regular

Honey Mustard and added some dried dill.  Good

appetizer to make if we ever get back to socializing!

This is an old favorite in PA Dutch country. My cousin, a farmer,  said it was his favorite lunch.

Pretzel Soup

Serves 4

Ingredients:

4 cups milk

2 teaspoons butter

16 ounces pretzels

Directions:

Heat the milk and add butter.

Serve in soup bowls.

At the table, each person should break up a handful of pretzels in their bowl.

Next Ingredient: Basil

@PA Mom-mom. Have you ever eaten this soup?  If so, could you describe the taste?  It sounds like something eaten when circumstances were very, very, very lean.

@vabreeze  I tasted it one time when my mom made it for my cousin, who loves it. It's pretty much like you might think it would taste. The level of flavor relies on the quality of the pretzels, the salt and the butter. You break the pretzels into the warm milk and butter and each person decides how soggy they want it. And, yes, it is something dairy farmers could afford, and it made for a quick lunch.
