ANYONE EVER MAKE SCALLOPED POTATOES IN A CROCKPOT?

If so, how long did you cook them and were they as good as oven baked?

TIA

@tends2dogs

I've made the recipe below. Scalloped potatoes is not a dish I make often, but I think it was every bit as good as the oven version and it leaves the oven free for other things.  I have a large slow-cooker, so there were few layers, which might make a difference. I can't speak to how well they'd turn out in a smaller pot with lots of layers. I know some people abhor canned soup recipes... I'm not one of them.

INGREDIENTS

large potatoes, sliced
small onion, diced
slices bacon, uncooked diced
cups shreddedcheddar cheese
(10 1/2 ounce) can cream of chicken soup

DIRECTIONS
  • Place half of the sliced potatoes in bottom of crock pot.
  • Top with half of the onions cheese and bacon.
  • Repeat layers in order.
  • Top with cream of chicken soup.
  • Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.

I oven bake mine, although a crock pot should work too. Maybe four hours on low.

Thank you so much, @house_cat .  I am not a purist as far as canned soup.  LOL  This sounds wonderful and I thank you so much for taking the time to post and to add a picture.  I think I know what's for dinner tomorrow night!

Every once in awhile I put some boneless pork chops on bottom of crockpot and then I make the boxed scalloped on stove but only boil the water. Then I add the cheese packet and milk and butter and potatoes. Mix well in pot and pour over chops. Cook on low ( in my crockpot everyone is different) 6 hours. Delish!

@Monketoes

Would you mind sharing a PC recipe you have used?

I tried them in the PC and musta picked 2 dud recipes to try!

I would give it a whirl again if I had a tried and true recipe.
