11/15/11 ~~~~"USMC" - HAM SALAD REQUEST ~~~~

When DH was in the USMC - Ham Salad sandwiches were somethng they ate frequently. He recently asked me to pick some up at the Deli. Although it is close in taste - he said something is missing. I did google it before coming here - and there definitely are quite a few versions. If anyone is familiar with the USMC recipe - I would appreciate your reply. TIA.....

I realize this is a very old post, so you may have already gotten your answer elsewhere, but I was looking for David Venable's recipe and stumbled on your question.  Anyway, the Marines' recipes are online (you'll have to adjust the amounts, though!) and here's the one I found:  http://www.marines.mil/Portals/59/Publications/MCO%20P10110.42B%20Sandwiches.pdf

The ham salad is at page 42 or so...it sounds good, so we're going to try it.  When I make tuna salad I add sweet pickle relish (drained in a tea strainer) instead of chopping pickles; I even used tartar sauce a couple of times.  This sounds like a new one to try!
