As a fashion company you should know the difference. I know for a fact that there are a whole lot of women who are petite AND do not like or buy pants where the waist comes up to their ribs.
Lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to be made.

Because one woman, Jeanne Bice, had short legs but wasn't petite, Quaker stubbornly refuse to entertain the idea of making pants in petite sizes. Women with short legs who are not petite can hem regular pants but there isn't a thing we petite women can do but shop other brands.
Try Denim & Co. How Comfy pants. Same fabric, much better fit.

@Kachina624 - Your post is precisely WHY Jeanne opted to do the short pant rather than petite. She couldn't find any in other lines who offered only regular and petite. Geesh, so one line offers "short" and it's a crisis? Really?

@Buck-i-Nana ..... I totally agree with you .... I am short & I order the short & they are perfect on me .... there are so many other brands to choose from!!!!!

@Kachina624 - What you've said about why QF doesn't offer petite isn't true.
Many years ago, when Jeanne was still alive, they did try offering true petite sizing in pants. However, they didn't sell well and they also got returns, so they discontinued them. Jeanne herself explained this more than once on air, in response to the question of "why no petites?"
I doubt that they will want to bother offering them again, when probably the majority of their market is happy with "short", "regular" and "tall".

They do know the difference and take care during many shows to explain that their pants are "short, not petite" and the difference is in the rise.
I suspect they know their market and are catering for that. Also, see my post above for why they no longer offer petite.

@Buck-i-Nana "Short" is unwearable by a person who needs petite sizing, of which there are millions. The waistband comes up to the bra and beyond. This does strange things to the rear end. It's not a crisis... nobody said it was but they are ignoring a large segment of buyers. Let them keep shorts but they need to add petite. If there was a huge demand for shorts they would be plentiful in other lines. You see whole stores devoted to petite sizing... most short women are petites.
You'd think Jeanne would have been smart enough to figure out all she had to do was get regulars shortened.

@Venezia No, the majority of petite women are not happy. The pants are unwearable so they've moved on to other lines like How Comfy.
Sorry, but I don't recall Quaker offering petites in pants and I've been with them since the start.

You have to remember when ordering "petite" that they are about a half of a size SMALLER ALL OVER than the same size number in "average"...........

I like the fact that QF are "short" and "not petite."
I need a long rise with a short inseam... so these fit me perfectly... and this keeps me out of dressing rooms trying jeans on for hours. I never had good luck with that.
Women seem to love the IM 24hour pants, which appear to have a true petite rise. LCNY pants are also in petite with a shorter rise -- these are brands that I cannot wear due to the fact that they do not hit high enough on my waist.
