what does this label indicate?

Does anyone know if this type of label indicates that this was a

customer return?

These are EternaGold earrings 14kt, item# J361864, but they did not come in a EG teal green box, and the product card was not included.

They are supposed to be new, but they look used/worn with make-up oil smudges.

For what they cost, I really expect new!

Re: what does this label indicate?

yes, that label indicates that it was a returned item.

they do sell returned items, just as any retailer would do.

if they look used and worn, then send them back for a refund. indicate that on the return receipt so you will get a full refund.

If you do decide to keep them, make sure you clean them really well with alcohol.

Re: what does this label indicate?

I'm not completely sure that label always indicates a return.  I've gotten items with that different label on some brand new items that had never been sold before.  So I'm thinking that along with the possibility of it being a returned item, it could also just indicate something happened to the original packaging and it had to be re-packaged.

Years ago, they actually opened and inspected random products and so those items sometimes had different packaging.  But I don't think they do that anymore.

@geezerette

I remember back in the day when some items would come with a sticker saying that the item had been inspected for 'quality control'.

From some orders I've received and others I have read here, I don't think they do 'quality control' anymore!

The company - Eternagold - was sold years ago - so I wouldn't put concern on the packaging.  Now with that - the sticker could be an Inventory Tag.  If the earrings look okay and you love them.............I'd forget the rest.  Polish them up and enjoy them.

Re: what does this label indicate?

@KingstonsMomIn the years when I was making lots of purchases, once in a great while I did see that inspection paper.  Maybe it showed up once in 50 or more purchases, never very often.  I just don't know how we'd know how they're doing inspections.

Almost the only way I know to be sure what I buy is inspected before I get it home is to  buy locally which I do as much as possible.
