@NYCLatinaMe I get @newname0 totally.
Think about Facebook and what is going on with them in Congress as well as what so many here say about that company.
what makes us think regulations that might come will apply only to Facebook? If running boards like ours were easy to do, legally and financially, wouldn't we already have lots of good choices?

@millieshops The poster here is speculating about costs that we have no reason to think they exist. No exposure to QVC.
Now Facebook has had to pay for unauthorized sharing of its users data and violating Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, which prohibits a private entity from collecting, storing, or using biometric identifiers or information without prior notification and written consent.
So Facebook is a known violator of its users privacy, and QVC is telling us to go there.
Does that make sense?

@PickyPicky3 wrote:@NYCLatinaMe Business liability insurance is just a part of the cost of doing business. It can run for years with regular moderate price increases (just like our home insurance) and then suddenly the insurance company gets worried about a specific area and makes big changes.
People start running around screaming "We're gonna get sued" and panic, demanding that the specific activity or whatever be eliminated.
i don't know whether this has happened -- just asking if anybody does know.
We're all just speculating here. There could be a hundred different reasons, or just one.
@PickyPicky3 Your post looks to me competely speculative and without basis, and it looks like you just admitted that. Sorry to be harsh, but it is not smart to write about things you know nothing about.

@aroc3435 I suspect QVC would say the forums ARE continuing -- on Facebook.
I don't want to get poofed, but it reminds me of a former President saying "I didn't have sex with that woman."
It all depends on your definition of sex -- or forum.

However in my message to the new CEO when I asked him to please reconsider keeping it open, I mentioned that many of us spend a lot here due to postings about products on the forum. It's a much different format than FB which is not as pleasant for many.
@haddon9 I really don't think it costs much at all. I believe they are hoping that if we move there, they can add customers by us liking things, which I think will backfire.
Most vendors try to keep customers on their website, QVC is telling them to go away. How smart is that?

@NYCLatinaMe I don't think it costs a lot either but I think the Q might be in panic mode (there are less models, shipping stinks, etc.) so they are trimming any what they think is extra fat.
Your theory might be right about FB....however they have had a FB page for a very long time so who knows what they are thinking?

I don't think it is really about cost. Cost to run this board simply cannot be a factor in their overall computing package.
I think that when they were outsourcing computing or switching to another service company, which I read a few months ago that they did, they simply looked at this and said "Nah we don't need this" and drew a line through it. No thought, no idea that it mattered and wham, it's off the table.

the way i see it is that there is a LOT more action on facebook....not quite the same as here, but there are 3.2 million plus using that platform to "chat" with and about qvc on the QVC main facebook page. they also have four OTHER facebook platforms that they run, including one for LOGO (5K plus members), CHRISTMAS (18K plus members), We #loveQVC (19K plus members), and THE BOOK CLUB (7K plus members.)
along with that they also have all of the host pages AND a QVC CAREERS page for job opportunities.
they have a significant presence on the facebook platform and all of the mods here also handle/moderate those groups and customer service in messenger also. hopefully they are also keeping the email active also.....qvcsocialteam@qvc.com
maybe they want to focus on facebook more now instead of these boards which are now just a small fraction of what they used to be in terms of both quality and quantity of posts.
i will definitely miss it here, but i can understand why they have decided to do it. not many OTHER online stores or brick and mortar stores have forums for their customers. they are just following suit. i will still be shopping at QVC and i will still be discussing QVC and more via the proboards site that is now up and running. it will be nice if others join us there, but if they dont, i totally understand.

@sunshine45 I signed up over on the proboards as well...hope to see you there.
