I don't think it is really about cost.  Cost to run this board simply cannot be a factor in their overall computing package.

I think that when they were outsourcing computing or switching to another service company, which I read a few months ago that they did, they simply looked at this and said "Nah we don't need this" and drew a line through it.  No thought, no idea that it mattered and wham, it's off the table.

@Sooner

I am thinking along these lines too.  Last revamp 10 years ago.  Probably 10 year contract with webservice provider with a one or two year extension.  They said nah!  we will let our customers go to other websites and spend their money there.  Strategic thinking...

@NYCLatinaMe    You could well be right @newname0 @and I may be.

I have no doubt that I will not head to Facebook -  have never followed any brand or QVC employee, past or present, to FB.  I even forego family on that website.

As for the cost of the Forums -- do you know that there's no cost to the company or are you speculating? If you have the facts, spill please.

Forums are probably canned software.  Compared to to the product databases, shipping databases,statistical, financial,  payment and employee records and all else their IT runs (where or whoever runs it) this isn't a blip on the radar.

@millieshops I KNOW the forums are not a significant cost to QVC, because its parent company Qurate, a publicly traded company, has not made any disclosures regarding the cost of maintaining the Forums, or any financial exposure it may be creating.  Publicly traded companies are required by law to make disclosures regarding significant costs and exposures.  That means it is so small relative to the company it does not warrant disclosure.  I also have some familiarity with web services contract.  Maintaining a website like this is not that costly.

Re: see their side - maybe forums became

@NYCLatinaMe  I know companies have to disclose all sorts of info to investors, but I don't know any of the specifics.  I know in my own house what a significant savings is- zero idea what significant means to QVC or Its parent company.

but you did bolster my belief that what I spend that QVC is so little that it's not all that significant.  Not to me or their business!
