The show hosts are SALESMEN, nothing more and nothing less.  That's what SALESMEN do.  In fact, they used to have a prerecorded schpiel about pricing.  Maybe they still have it.

And according to their latest financial reports with sales declining 4%....we know all about using that remote so there's no need to even mention this to us.....😆

I always take what they say with a huge grain of salt. I will say that when it comes to fashion if they are comparing prices to boutiques then they are not exaggerating. I normally shop at places like Ross, Marshalls, Kohls and similar stores. These tend to be  more in line with my budget. I do go shopping with the girls from time to time and when you hit the boutiques those outrageous prices are normally what you see.

Even going to Dillard's, Macy's, JCP, QVC's prices are STILL higher, yet fabric quality and styles are comparable....I wish QVC would stop comparing themselves to outrageously priced boutiques......How many women in QVC's customer base actually shop exclusively in boutiques anyway....animated-smileys-rolleyes-10.gif

The only person who states comparable prices whom I actually believe is Marla Wynne. When she says that her $50 pants would go for twice as much in other stores, I believe her because of the quality and consistency in her clothing. She also doesn't state outrageous prices like paying $200 for her pants.

Most of the items I purchase, though, I just ask myself if it's worth the price to me. I know that I can find similar things elsewhere, but I like not having to drive, find parking, dealing with other people, etc. I also like trying on clothing in my own home, where I can see how an item fits with other items in my closet. The lighting in my house is also more forgiving than the lighting in dressing rooms. Woman Very Happy But if an item is worth the price to me, I don't care if they say other people would pay 4x as much.

Funny. And, so True.

They act like some stuff is such a bargain compared to other retailers.

Only in their minds..... 😂!

I see this approach all the time in the retail world—especially with online sellers—not just at QVC. Buyers simply price the most expensive somewhat-comparable version of a product and list that as the retail price. It is true that you may find an item that is in the price range listed, but more often than not, the "comps" are extreme.

My favorite recent example of this was the California Innovations insulated tote set TSV when the Q claimed that the regular zipper bags (not the thicker, nicer totes) would be something like $28 at retail. I don't know any store that would actually sell such bags at that price because I don't know any person who would pay that for them. Even the fancy brand-name insulated bags are only about $15.

Ah, sales tactics...

I always price check before buying.  Almost everything Q sells can be purchased for less elsewhere...with free shipping and/or a promotion code.
