This kind of thing has been a gripe of mine for years. Why do manufacturers make these things such a chore?

I would think because this item has HIGH potential to leak in shipping!  To stores, to us.....

If that stopper wasn't in there so tight, it could be a leaky mess.

I agree it is difficult, but how else could you ship a liquid item like this???

Re: harry slatkin's diffuser

I find his diffusers very difficult to use. I can unseal the bottle ok but the bottom often falls off & it’s difficult to get the bottle in correctly & close it. Maybe I have a faulty one? But, my Nest brand looks almost the same but works well & easier. I went back to wall flower diffusers in one area of my home.

My favorite diffusers of Harry's are the reed diffusers.  No electrical outlet needed and if you remember to turn them over weekly they last a long time.  Look pretty too!

I once plugged in a wall diffuser in my kitchen under a cabinet overhang and the heated oil took the finish off of my cabinet. its underneath and doesnt show unless you bend down and look under, but be cautious where you plug them in.

Re: harry slatkin's diffuser

I emailed their website and was told to use pliers but I still could not remove the stoppers!  I can't buy them because I can not open them. I tried knives, screw drivers pliers and I gave up! Sad because I really liked some that I actually was able to use!

@RespectLife   I order laundry detergent, Lysol laundry sanitizer, dish liquid online, they have an easy piece of tape on the bottles/lid.  I've never received a leaky one.  Only one time ever I received a spilled mess.  It was a Wen cleanser (once).

These manufacturers need to figure it out.  Shouldn't have to use knife to open.  Last week I could NOT get a top off of a ranch dressing bottle.  Had a foil seal on it, so I finally just poked a hole in the foil seal.  (Yes with a steak knife)  Three of us could not open the lid.  It's annoying.

Re: harry slatkin's diffuser

I don't know how big the opening is on the difussers but if the seal is not TOO thick try using one of those long staple removers with the rounded metal tip.  Push it through the middle of the seal and lever the seal up and off.   Should be safer than a steak knife.
