I guess I don't understand why so many people comment on higher prices on QVC.  The cost of most things go up over time so I don't understand why QVC would be any different.  My insurance goes up, the price of a car goes up, my groceries increase in price.  To my knowledge, it's a general rule the price of most items/services go up over time.

Thank goodness people comment on higher prices - that would be really stupid not to.

If Q sells large amounts  of an item they will raise price substantially.  Once Q  has made back their investment they will sit  inventory for years as we have all seen they sell us old stuff. They did not build those huge warehouses for nothing.  Their profit margin has to be outrageous.  Clothes are really super cheap and this is one of the stores that charges the most.

Not just QVC.  Look at the "Halloween" candy at the grocery stores.  Same candies, smaller packages, higher prices.  Retail is retail & their goal is profit.

I've notice small price changes especially in apparal (except for GILI where prices jump by 10s of dollars). Apart from going from a featured to a full price, I see prices creeping up by a $1 or $1.50.

There used to be a time when the price of a comparable item on QVC was substantially lower than Brick & Mortars.  You'd get a medium-high quality item that was a savings even including shipping & handling (and taxes).  The prices have gone up considerably over time and unfortunately the quality has dropped (low quality fabrics, poorly made items, junky decorations, candles that don't work, etc. And even the OTO's or TSVs are often only marginally discounted from their QVC price.... some "discounts" are laughable.

It's happened slowly and without a lot of notice until lately.  I also agree that QVC (and other shopping channels) are at a disadvantage because the customer can't try it on, or inspect it in person and there is far more disappointment in an item after the vendors and hosts talk the product up, we get it home and it performs poorly.  The customer shouldn't have to invest a lot in order to get the item home.

I've also been greatly disapointed in the food items.  Even though shipping is included, the prices are too high.  I've been burned several times, tough steaks, a $70 ham that was mostly bone & fat (a larger one was purchased from the supermarket for $25 that was extremely good).... 3 Side dishes that no one liked or ate! (the vendor and hosts nearly went into a coma over how good they were)....

So why do I still order?  When the items are great, the convenience is worth it.  I just have to be far more discriminating in what I pick than I've ever been before, that's all....
