Inherited some from my MIL. Blue Royal Copenhagen plates. Checking E-Bay. Not worth much. Any suggestions? Thank you

@Group 5 minus 1  Most collectables aren't worth what they cost.  I have Fenton Glass and others and am wondering the same.  My space is worth more than the collections to me.

Are they the plates that are dated with a scene?  I have about 8 of them.  I'm taking them to my mom's house (she's 98) so when she passes we will sell them and her things at an estate sale.  Probably won't get much.

Re: collectibles

[ Edited ]

This generation is not into collectibles. They want the latest electronic gadgets. I have no problem with that. I have not collected anything for at least 15 years. No one wants my Precious Moments or Ty Beanie Babies. lol... I have them in boxes in the closet.

Yes, they are the ones w/a date. Checked E-Bay prices and they are worth very little.

I think it's safe to say most, if not all collectibles have fallen in value due to being sold through the internet.  Now, beause they are all over the place, they are no longer regarded as having exclusivity, which increased their value back in the day.  I know this is certainly true of Hummels which I collected.

Anything with history does not seem to be worth much these days. I was looking to sell some of my antiques and when I found out they will bring two thirds less than what I paid for them, I decided to sit on them. Those baskets that were so expensive and so coveted years ago are worth next to nothing, same with Hummels, old lead crystal, pictures, etc. The only thing you might be able to get some money out of is old sterling silver flatware. I inherited my MIL's, but I use it and wouldn't think of selling it.

When HSN came on I started buying dolls but not for the value. Later it was Beanie babies and now I have cats, 2 real ones.I never thought of their worth. No grands or daughters. I will tell my son to give to them to the poor. The same with my inexpensive clothes which is my habit now.
