I was going to post asking this same question. Every year I plan on ordering and then change my mind thinking it's not going to work. I am going to order one now with all of the good reviews. I just have to decide on a color LOL

I purchased this for my brother as a Christmas gift two years ago. He looked at it and asked me what the he** is it. I told him, and he absolutely did not believe that it would work. He has an old Truck that he keeps around just for moving big items and such, so since he does not use it that often the battery dies frequently. He went out and killed the battery, by leaving a light on, and then was going to show me how I had wasted my money. He went to use it, and the car did not start and I was so disappointed, but then he realized he had forgot to push the start button. The Huge Ford Truck started right up. He was in shock..., and later told me that the item was the best Christmas gift that he had received that year. He still uses it with no problems. His only complaint is that he believes the clamps are cheaply made. I guess it's plastic, he feels like he is using a pair of toys, so you need to be careful not to break.

I have 4 of them - one for each car (the air compressor model) and two in the house (the AC model). Because I keep the two in the house for power outages I took the clamps and put them in the bag with the two we keep in the cars. This way if something happens to one set of clamps, we have a backup. I, too, would like to see sturdier clamps.

Worth every penny! I'm in upstate NY and it has saved my life a half dozen times. I have two cars but a one car garage, so if the battery dies, to jump the old fashioned way, I have to push the car out so that the other car can get close enough. Also - ignore the comments about it not working - there is a button you have to push and some people don't follow the instructions! Holds a charge for months too. Trust me - buy one for each vehicle!

I gave the Bolt to 3 of my grown children. My son used his the second week after I gave it to him and it worked immediately. My son-in-law came out to a dead battery and it did not start his car but even the tow company tried to start it and it was just too dirty and totally dead. My daughter came out of Home Depot last week to a dead battery. She remembered she had it in the trunk and it worked (she didn't expect it to work cause she never charged the battery in 2 years) but it still had a charge and started her car immediately. She was so impressed she called me.
Go for it! This one is really better with the air compressor.

I agree that the Halo Bolt is a life saver. We use it to start the riding mower after it sits in the garage unused for the winter, and it has started my husband's car multiple times when he leaves the car lights on. It is simple and it works.

Which model is preferred? I don't think I would use the pump.

I do not recommend this product. I was so excited to purchase it but after 9 months it died: wouldn't charge & a flashing light w/ a "TEMP" warning appeared. I never left it in extreme cold or hot temperatures and I had only used it 8 times just to put air in my tires. Of course QVC was useless when I contacted them, given that it was past the 30 day trial period so I contacted the company (ZAGG) to see if there was any way to repair this product. They were nonchalant and, of course, said "no". They offered to give me $25 off on the purchase of a new one, and acknowledged they only have a 90 day warranty even when items are purchased from them. Needless to say I told them what I thought of their product and customer service and hung up.
In reading the reviews on this product I don't think I just got a lemon. There are too many negative comments. I'm sure that is why the warranty is so short. I am wondering if people write reviews early on in using the product, only to find out how shoddy it is in the long run. Or, perhaps quality control is so bad that it is hit or miss as to whether you get a good or bad one. This was not an inexpensive purchase so I am really bummed. Buyer Beware. Check out other similar type devices, their warranty, and the reputation of the company before buying this dud.

Not a fan. Have AAA if I ever need a battery jumped. Driving around with this thing in the car that will likely never be used is why I never seen myself or my family purchasing it.
