Google "qvc producer linkedin" and you can see various producers and how long they've been at the Q/when they graduated college/job history, etc. Gives you an idea of the ages.

I've always wondered if there was anybody watching the hosts and their performances. It always looked like nobody to me. And after reading this thread, I think the young producers are taking orders from the hosts. I think at the Q do exactly as they please and what they please. Someone up the ladder might be concerned about the sales, only concerned with numbers and uncaring about finding out why and what's going on. 

There doesn't seem to be anyone guiding the Q ship carefully from the top to the bottom.

I'll take a young producer over most of the hosts any day of the week. Fresh new eyes, young ideas, avoiding the same old-same old, is important to me. 

Be careful not to over generalize. As a retired senior, it irks me when people do that to older people too.

Bottom line - they are doing what they were hired to do. The only thing we control is if we want to watch or purchase.

What you're saying sounds right @febe1 .  The hosts are able to do what they please since they're running the show.
