Yeah, you still need wifi. I have Comcast the triple play bundle,TV , phone, internet. I guess I could pare down to just internet, I just don't wanna take that chance. I like my sytem the way it is now. They don't explain very well if you can watch live TV say like CNN, QVC, HSN, (oops!) local programming news etc...It seems all app based, like using a fire tablet on your TV. I guess Roku is a big seller over at HSN , never understood that either. Although Lea Little is always easy to look at ![]()

I would never buy any electronics from Q or any shopping channel. As far as Q goes, they never offer the current product. It's always 1 or 2 or more prior models. I've done some research in the past and know they don't offer the current models.

Agree SPURT! Don't tune in much on electronics days except waiting for Valerie's shows. Yesterday, they almost "got" me on the Fire Stick BUT then I did some research and heard on presentation, it does not support local channels, so I'd still have to have cable. I'm also a little "challenged" when it comes to Netflix etc so I was assuming these features would be free. Ha! Ha! We also live in the country and our WiFi provider choices are quite limited and I seriously doubt that we could stream anything without being annoyed - it's not that fastest speed nor is it reliable, in fact it is VARIABLE speed or down a great deal of the time. I didn't hear that fact addressed in presentation, nor on website. They did mention after a caller inquired about subscribing fees for apps after 90 days or you would have to cancel the apps you didn't want to be charged for!!! So yes, this thing comes with lots of strings attached at least for me.

Yep, there are going to be a lot of disappointed folks alright......and you still gotta pay for wifi and will need a good high speed connection since all that streaming is pretty taxing which means you cant just chose an inexpensive wifi set up...........you might get a free trial for some services but then after the trial is over you start paying subscription fees and that with your wifi connection start to add up......you get to chose your channels and that may be worth it to some who dont like paying for stuff they dont watch.....
The best internet connect would cost me $69....then you add in all the subscription fees (yes there is some Free TV but probably not all of the channels you want to watch)..Hulu $8, Netflix $8 Sling $19.99, $99 a year for prime...........in the long run how much are you saving......

You can buy an antenna at Best Buy to get local channels, but there's another expense---I checked into it and they offer them at various price ranges....where are the good ole rabbit ears when you need them...LOL!!! Between your Wifi cost and all the subscription fees is there a savings... (its funny because with my cable most of the charge is the municipality surcharge city fees etc---$46 of my total bill-)![]()

@Spurt I still need my triple play. LOL The only thing I like about Roku and the sticks is for the rooms that I do not have cable in. My son tried to talk me out of cable and going with just the fire stick or Roku but seriously there isn't a lot of channels that I watch on those. He is never home but I am home a lot and I like my TV, I think like you a lot will be disappointed in what they can or cannot get on them.

I wonder if what the savings is that with the fire stick and other options people dont have to pay all those cable surcharge and municipality fees they tack on.....And yes the triple play
....and if you de-bundle then the internet connection cost goes up...........
I can relate, I live in a small condo and have my large smart TV in my living room and a small old TV in my bedroom that I dont have cable hooked up to. I mostly use that tv in my bedroom to watch old dvd movies late at night. I can buy a cheap antenna to get local channels on that one...if I want to---but dont see much of a need for that right now....
A friend's daughter had "cut the cord" because she was paying subscription fees but not getting some of the channels she wanted she even went back to AT&T......surprising for a millenial......
Oh well, call me old fashion....but I dont understand how some people love to watch movies and tv shows on the tiny screens on their phones either......I wanna see it on my big screen TV LOL!

Oh man oh man oh man why is TV soooo complicated?!! Everything used to be so simple. We have comcast internet and cable on a big smart tv with Netflx. And a tv in the bedroom. I'm afraid to hardly dust around the equipment for fear I'll knock something out! Ugh.

Oh @Spurt I totally agree. Watching a movie on my phone would drive me nuts. I have two boxes. I have the DVR in my bedroom but whatever I recrd in besroom can be watched in the livng room. I just switched services. I was with Brighthouse for 14 years and they sold out to Spectrum. I had 9 techs out here since April, I had constant pixilation running across the screen. I could not take it anymore but to top that off they had the nerve to raise my bill 35.00 a month. I called and said are you nuts?
I called Frontier and switched and I got a really good package locked in price for two years. So far I love it. I get a lot more channels. When my hubby was sick he watched Roku all the time. He liked those old Westerns on you tube---ugh---. He was always watching movies and I cannot do that day after day. I will be curiousto see if people in reviews like it. I don't care for the Amazon stick. If they belong to Amazon Prime then that may work for some. Nice to have choice! :0)

@MoJoV LOL Everything is complicated. Computers caused all this mess. If you have a smart TV then you don't need the stick.
