Re: X=MAS SALES NOT GOOD

There does seem to be conflicting reports about spending-some news sources focusing on inflation and drops in spending and some saying holiday consumer spending soars.

It can't be both.

I do think too that a lot of people maybe are spending more on what is needed-food, rent or necessities rather than more stuff they no longer want or need.

Yep - some sources have an agenda and focus on that instead of reporting the facts. Too many are no longer credible and should be ignored so people can post whatever article they want but I'm not buying it.

Qurate (QVC/HSN) has experienced declines in revenue for several years now---they had a brief reprieve when people were quarantined and "found" QVC but now things seem to be heading to back where they were way before the pandemic...more sales and revenue declines

I think the problem is with the Buyers and you can see it from the repetitive merchandise....If something is a one time hit then it's like ALL vendors will then offer the same thing, meanwhile those that were interested have moved on to something else, yet the Buyers keep purchasing these same products.....

Take lanterns for example---Luminara and Valerie Parr Hill offered them ----then ---Candle Impressions, Plow & Hearth, Kringle Express, Simply Stunning, Lightscapes, Home Reflections, Garden Reflections, Techko, Glitzhome.....HOW MANY LANTERNS DOES ONE NEED!!!!  OVERKILL, OVERKILL, OVERKILL....

ALL the QVC clothing designers merchandise looks alike----too many fads, not enough variety!!!.....

And the same Christmas gifts that were once popular have returned for the last 10 years!!!!  I bet the recipients are tired of getting the same gifts from the QVC Gift Givers....(the mention of the Flashpad for example brings cringes from QVC viewers).....

Too much of the same repetitive items brings a lack of interest and little sales....and as I said this has been the case since way before there was a supply chain crisis or manufacturer staffing issues....Giving a cute clever new name to the shows, adding "YAY" to Friday or Holiday doesnt entice new viewers nor does switching hosts around result in MORE SALES!!! .........

Too much of the same thing!!!!

Shop HQ sales were up.  I posted that, but it went poof.    I never watched them, but they are doing really good in sales.   Here is my take on it.

1.  I buy more when I watch.   If I don't watch, I don't buy.   Now with having a host on that you don't like everytime you turn the program on, makes me turn the channel. Sales lost.

2. Retrain the Hosts that think the show is about them and all they talk about is their family.  We need more product information and less Family talk.

3.  As everyone else has said more variety, better shipping, new vendors, stop showing the TSV non stop and whatevr evryone else has said.  Prices with shipping are way too high in most cases.  BUT, Haven't we all offered all these suggestions many times? Is anyone listening?

That's the problem they aren't listening..🤔....It's a bit amusing as QVC has added all these new streaming channels as ways to see QVC programming, but if the products/shows arent appealing----then what's the point?????!!!!!????

@Spurt  Exactly.  Here is a small part of the article that they deleted:

ShopHQ is touting its sales growth during the holiday season, seeing a 34% jump in November and December “in its entertainment networks” compared to the prior-year period.  They are doing what we are trying to tell them.

@LizzieInSRQ   I don't wish that at all.  I would miss it.  We just are trying to tell them what we think is wrong.   I don't think most of us want it to fail.

Overall, it's stale. Someone needs to shake it up. FNI, is unwatchable, the trio, is old. As much as I like Leah, the shows are just repetitive, and boring. Rotate hosts, on the shows, for a start. And fix the shipping, and returns. The fees are absolutely ridiculous. They need to have a 3rd party, like Amazon has Kohls, for returns. It's time for a gut and clean up. Many of us are supporting our local stores before we lose them. Give us a reason to watch, and buy.

@LizzieInSRQ   I don't get that feeling at all.  I feel kind of helpless watching QVC self-destruct while I feel I know what they're doing wrong.  Because I have mobility issues, I depend on them (and Amazon) for much of what I buy, not to mention the social interaction here.  Failure is the last thing I want for this company.

There are hundreds of places to shop other than QVC. No need to depend on them-along with they are the WORST retailer for shipping and returns I've ever shopped with. I purchased nothing from the Q for the holidays.

That is not how this thread is coming off to me at all.  It is frustration with QVC's PTB, management, hosts etc. for not listening to the consumers.   This company has not fixed it shipping and return issues it has had for years -pre pandemic! Their IT, social media department is in dire need of a change. Programming is old and stale, repetitive. Same items multiple times within days of each other. Hosts go on blathering about nonsense or their families instead of giving out the information on an item.  Yelling, obnoxious behavior and act like pre teens on a sleep over. People have been asking for fixes for many, many years. It has not been done.  As stated before by another poster, QVC is its' own worst enemy. They are doing this all to themselves by thinking they know better. If QVC fails, it is their own fault.
