@Nonametoday  I'm not surprised at this.  When I was in school centuries ago, we were told that proper names can be pronounced however you want.  That is, there is no right or wrong way.

I learned that too, ( proper nouns) but that doesn't apply to someone's name.  It is considered an insult to pronounce someone name incorrectly, especially when you are aware of it.

I cringe when somone calls me Carmen.  I am either Carmela or Carmie.

I have corrected a few people several times, but they still persist.  I have taken to just ignoring them.

This thread keeps rising to the top, so I have to ask:  Who Is Katia?  I presume she's a model.  So many people here know their names; and I don't have a clue.

She's the very slender tall model.

I remember way back when she was a new model on the QVC scene.  She was modeling a Susan Graver item.  Susan Graver went over to her to highlight the item for sale.  To Susan's credit, she very nicely asked Katia her name.  Then Susan repeated it.  The pronunciation stuck with me.

The scene left me with a very favorable impression of Susan Graver.  She cared enough to get the model's name right.

Names, as well as languages, are important.  I'm sure Katia felt good that someoe cared enough to get her name right.

However you pronounce her name she is beyond gorgeous and makes any clothing look wonderful.
