QVC is having financial issues, apparently not selling a lot of products as they used to.
That being the case, how come they spend less time talking about the products and more time acting silly and chattering about women's mid-life issues and other things having nothing to do with what is being sold.
Why would they spend less and less time actually selling stuff? Do you find this puzzling? They used to point out qualities, talk about how you would wear it, how. you could use it, show it, let you focus on the item, wrap your mind about how it might be nice to have. . .
Now there is a lot less actual time and focus on what they sell.

I agree. There is so much content out there, that if you are interested in people chatting about any topic, you can find a podcast, video, tiktok, etc about it. People tune into QVC to shop. When someone turns on the channel it means they are open to buying. All the tomfoolery that goes on just makes me change the channel. I also think by focusing on women over 50 they are turning off a huge group of possible customers.

I have always found it puzzling that people watch QVC for "entertainment". Or have it on as "background noise." I think that the main intent of a "shopping" channel is to sell but I must be mistaken!

Lol, I don't find anything wrong with fun, light-hearted presentations. How grumpy can a person be that has THIS as their complaint?

It is a puzzlement.
My buying is down significantly lately, but I still do buy. And when I watch I tend to buy more. But all the stories, silliness, and singing and jumping around do nothing to persuade me to purchase--in fact, my reaction is the opposite. The details of the products are what I'm interested in.
That said, I do enjoy some light hearted banter. I'm not looking for a robot to drone on monotonously with just statistics. I'm looking for what an old fashioned salesperson would do--enhance the information I need to make a decision about the product, one way or another. This can be done in an 'entertaining' way without going overboard.
If I'm interested in a product that is presented multiple times throughout the day, I will wait for a host that I know will be more informative to make a purchase, or not, depending on what I find out about the product.
My question is, is all this new "entertainment" style of presenting translating into sales? It seems like in some certain instances it is, an example being Kim Gravel. Many don't care for her but apparently her style sells.
All I know is what I personally experience from QVC now. Too many hours dedicated to people I don't care to watch or listen to, and when I do order, chances are good there will be some sort of hiccup in my order getting to me on time. All of which doesn't lend itself to me either watching or purchasing more.

I understand the hosts develop relationships with the vendors and want to chat, but where is the direction from the floor manager or director if the chatting takes priority?

I think they've tried to strike a balance between making QVC a "fun" experience and selling. If the just stood there reading specification, it would be deadly boring. On the other hand both the hosts and the programming get out of hand, having the same effect. Whomever supervises on-air content needs to maintain more control.

Whatever they are doing isn't working for me. I rarely watch and my purchasing is way down. I am a longtime Q customer...33 years and I feel they have thrown their core customers under the bus.
When I shop, I am focused and don't want to hear a bunch of nonsense. But....they can do whatever they choose...it is their business.....I'm okay with it. ![]()

I don't watch the programming, but I think if they really want to sell they need to invest in their website. Too many issues. The other day I got a message saying they couldn't ship to my area......since when? Yet they'll send me emails saying items are still in your cart. Worthless.
No such problems with Amazon, Macy's or J C Penny's.
