I'm 4'10" and PREFER tunics...

Shorter tops make me look "chopped up"  (or child-like).

For me, tunic means a top that covers my crotch, which is what I want. I'm not tall, I'm only 5'3", but if you sat behind me in a theater you'd think I was 6'3" tall because I'm very long-waisted (and short-legged). Therefore a tunic that might fit you like a dress, doesn't fit me like that. It will probably barely cover my belly button. And that's not long enough for my liking. QVC has many tops that fit that criteria - I'm frequently disappointed when I check top lengths - even those described as tunics - in product info.

Unfortunately for me, the vast majority of tunics QVC offers that are long enough for my liking contain at least 5% spandex, which means they will feel hot and rubbery, and cling to and outline every place on my torso and rear that I want the fabric to skim over and conceal. So I will no longer buy any of QVC's spandex-laden tunics, which means my purchase options are also quite limited.

Guess we are both out of luck!

I also wear only tunics to cover up my variety of poofs...can't imagine wearing a short top - but what I really don't understand is the fad of stuffing a top/tunic into one's pants in the front only...- and I guess you'd need an absolutely smooth stomach to be able to carry it off - but still, just looks strange to me.

I'm 5' and a tunic makes me look like a kid trying on Mom's clothes.

I prefer the longer length too. If you are wearing leggings, you need to wear a tunic.

Some of the lines have shorter tops, like Susan Graver and Kim Gravel.

I can appreciate that everyone likes different things even though i prefer tops that are on the shorter side.  I have always liked the short boxy style top.  Sometimes I see a tunic i like and will do the front tuck with it.  I think the thing i really dislike when it comes to tunics is when a designer almost always (LG) puts pockets in the garment.  It is very awkward to front tuck a tunic with pockets.

I like a tunic and they're great for leggings, but I don't want ONLY tunics.  With jeans and trousers I prefer a top that comes to the waist.

Re: Why is everything Tunic

To have a proper fit they need to make tunics in petites.  Tunics look better than short tops on certain figure types.  Also with all the leggings, jeggings and tight fitting pants a tunics look best.

You also need a tiny bit of spandex in order for a top to hold its shape....too many tops that are 100% cotton stretch out and are unwearable after you wash it!

There are plenty of choices available that aren't tunics.  Luckily at QVC you have access to garment measurements so you can check each piece for compatibility with your figure type.  Check Candace Cameron Bure's collection.  It seems to be designed for the petite figure.
