@Granny Bluebell wrote:I am just an old woman and homebound and watch QVC alot. They do a good job by making them seem like they are your friends and I consider the hosts my friends. But QVC (the Business) is not a Church or religious organization. They are a business and do business things. You can google hosts names that have left and read "stories". Some blogs tell their departing story without mentioning their name but you can tell who they are talking about. When a host is there one day- and gone the next, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what happened. Business people use business language and will say "She has decided to move on to other things". Then why don't they throw a party for them like they did for Dan Hughes and Lisa Robertson. People like Aubrey Irvin, Jackie Gonzales, and the Kitchaid lady. I know they remove posts on here left and right so I will not say anymore. But when they do mean things like that to their hosts it makes me not want to buy anything from them anymore.
@Granny Bluebell, you mean Dan Wheeler. Dan Hughes is still on the Q.

The newbies are on all night.

I think it would be a very difficult to be a newbie on Q or any other shopping channel. People get nervous and they have to talk about 1 product for a long time. I'd stumble over words, say um, etc, at first too.
Cut the new hosts some slack. They're learning. If they don't improve, then start the bashing.

I think the Q is still the flagship channel. The Q shows run to both the other channels. Vendors and hosts, I believe, would still prefer to be there. They put hosts in the lesser channels to keep them alive and when they need some help. Were they all newbies, the channels would die.
They put the newbies there in the off hours, b/c it's the most items they want to sell, and it will go to the other channels anyway.
On my menu, the channels are all together, 315, 316, 317, 318. 316 is Evine. In this way, I can clearly see how the products are just rotated.

Usually the graveyard shift has the newer hosts.

Many of the new hosts seem to be getting overconfident and now talk over the vendors and speak too fast and too loud.

@Daysdee I SO agree!! I just watched Cathy P(?) with the new Susan Graver rep. While I can not watch Susan, when I saw the new vendor I just had to stay tuned!! I just added Cathy P. to my "do not watch" list. She kept talking over the vendor (missed her name) & seemed very loud. Cathy's voice has been somewhat irritating since she came. Today/night she was unbearable. She is the host who need to learn to say a couple of words correctly. My post on that has already been deleted, so I am sure this will also.

Since the new hosts arrived I hardly ever watch QVC especially in the morning. I used to put QVC on early in the morning when I couldn't sleep but none of them had sootheing voices in my opinion. I loved when Alberti started and was on early in the morning. And years ago it was Dave James, I think. Guess I just like the deeper tone of men's voices in the morning. QVC is like Amazon for me now - I do all my shopping onlline.

I don't think they are over confident, all the hosts talk over the vendors. They seem to think they know more about the product than the 'vendors. What I can't stand are the hosts that don't seem to care about what their hair looks like. It would be nice to be able to see their faces, instead they like to continually brush it out of their eyes. Get a better hair dresser.
I will not watch some of the hosts for that reason. I love to watch Mary beth, Carolyn and Jill. They are the best!

I got a real chuckle when you mentioned knowing the meaning of words! A few nights ago I stopped channel surfing and came across a discussion on QVC about the color of an item. Evidently, the official color was ochre, a shade of brown, but the host wondered if it should be okra, a green vegetable. Neither the host or vendor seemed certain about the difference between ochre and okra.
This stuff cannot be made up.
My favorite all time on air discussion between the host and vendor was when they tried to figure out if the moon was a planet. I kid you not!
