Why does QVC have newer hosts on QVC instead of receiving training first on QVC2 or the Beauty channel? I turned to the Q yesterday and there was a young woman that is new and her voice was horrible like screeching. I would think the first thing you do when hiring is get someone with a pleasant voice. I had to turn the channel. I think the worse thing QVC did was add the 2 channels. I think the Q should put their best foot forward and have their best hosts on the Q. Alberti, Shawn, Carolyn, etc. and I also feel that at the beginning of each program, the host should introduce herself or himself. What do you think? ![]()

I haven't watched the other channels on TV but glanced at one of them on my ipad. Don't know the purpose of multiple stations.

I hardly ever watch Q & have never watched the other 2 new channels. I channel surf to see what's on Q but not the other 2. I don't even know what channels they are on.
I cannot stand to listen to the non-stop blabbing so I cannot watch. I know that's their job but it's really annoying. As you said some of their voices are not pleasant to listen to.
Half the time I don't even know what the TSV is. I don't know what it is today.

I don't think they view the other channels as less important than the main channel,or as a host training ground.

I have to agree I don't care to watch much late night Q any more because of the unprepared hosts . Last night, the blonde (Christine) with the puff on her head seemed unready and unprepared as usual. Kathy has gotten much better - if she would only quit say um every few seconds. Seems more training is needed. Miss the older hosts.

This doesn’t really answer your question, but it was a thought I had, when I read your post. I think all of our perceptions are so different, regarding hosts and their voices.
I’ve discovered that what may seem like screeching to one person, may not to another. There is a fairly new host that I cannot watch. She does wonderful presentations and is very professional. But her voice is like nails on a chalkboard, to me. She is very popular, from what I read on the forums. And I bet everyone would disagree with me, if I mentioned her name.
So, I guess there are a variety of hosts to appeal to everyone.

I don’t think QVC considers Q2 or the Beauty Channel as being any less than the main QVC Channel, therefore, they assign the Hosts to the spot where they are needed. They seem to be rotated a lot.
Personally, I don’t watch QVC for entertainment, nor do I keep it on for background noise. Right now I have no plans to buy anything from anywhere in the near future, so I don’t watch any shopping channels.
if I need something, like maybe a new pair of shoes or a set of sheets, i’ll Watch to see if there is something that I like. If there is, I’ll order.
Sometimes I’ll channel surf and stop to watch a presentation, but if I am not interested, I move along. I don’t consider product presentations “ shows”
All of the Hosts are Ok, I don’t favor any one over the others. To me they are just there to present merchandise. I usually check out the reviews and read about the product on line before I place an order. My purchases are never made on a whim.
I feel that every merchandiser is there to get the money from my pocket. They all do whatever they think it takes to get me to buy something. I will not be manipulated by a seller. If I want something, I’ll contact them on my own time. They need me more than I need them.
The good side is, I save money and my home is not cluttered with junk I purchased on a whim.

I saw the host you refered to with the puff on top of her head, when I first looked I thought she had a birdnest on top of her head. Some of these hairstyles are way over the top.

I've never heard Q2 described as "the training channel". I don't think they consider any more or less important than QVC.

@OnlyShopsOnline . . . .would this host be Mary Nelson? If so, I wholeheartedly agree. She presents both herself and the products very well and seems well prepared and knowledgeable about all things she presents. I think she is doing a wonderful job, but find her voice irritating. Perhaps her voice just clashes with the constant ringing in my ears? Ahhh, see, this is why there is chocolate AND vanilla. And strawberry. And a whole lotta other flavors!
Hugs . . .
