Why an item can't be cancelled

Ordered the TSV Mr. Christmas yesterday and had second thoughts about it a few hours later when I noticed on the white tree the antlers on the reindeer were black which I don't like , they should be either brown which is the actual color or even gold to match the trim on the saddle makes no sense so I decided to cancel and couldn't stating item is in process and cannot be cancelled . It makes no sense it wasn't even that long at all in between ordering and trying to cancel plus items do often take days and days to ship so I don't understand the not being able to cancel the same day 🤔 Why can't there be some kind of grace period . I understand if it were 3 days later , but hours ?? 😏

This is one of the great Q mysteries.  You can't cancel because they're preparing your order which will ship............IN ABOUT TEN DAYS!!!!

Re: Why an item can't be cancelled

I ordered 2 of sets of 2 LUG pouches.  A short time after, Rakuten increased the % back, so I ordered them again.  I cancelled my two first orders - I was supposedly able to cancel the orders.  Yet I got one of those emails about it shippping from elsewhere and blah, blah, blah, they don't know if they can cancel it or not.  Then I did not hear anything.

I ended up with 4 sets of two.

I am going to give the two extra sets away as Christmas gifts to my two daugher in laws, who may think it a really strange gift.  I will of course give them other presents and explain what happened with my order.

Point being, I agree that we should have more time to cancel items, and if we have the cancel option, and do so, they should not ship anyway.

I think it's the shipping and handling they will receive if they go ahead and ship it, and if you return it.  I know there are people on here that don't agree with this -- they don't think QVC makes a lot in shipping and handling, but I disagree.  I think it's a big money-maker for them.  JMO

Perhaps they hope you will like the item when you get it or perhaps not want the aggravation of returning,

Do other retailers allow orders to be cancelled after you finalize the order?

Amazon gives you about a half hour, but that is reasonable because it is shipped so fast.  Sometimes items are delivered the same day.

They have always done this and it doesn't make sense. I cut way back on shopping here and have to make sure.  HSN gives you until midnight EST. to cancel.  They are much better to shop.

HSN...true they do give a much long er time to canel.  which is great with us.  I think it is also great for customer service...meaning making the customer happy in the long run.  QVC...not so much.

And QVC....I think once you hit that button to purchase...forget about being able to cancel.  And my opinion... I think that hurts

Re: Why an item can't be cancelled

That's the way it's been for a few years now.  There's nothing new about it.  I don't have a problem with not being able to cancel several hours after ordering.  I get ticked  off when I can't cancel 20 minutes after I order.  But it is...what it is.
