Re: What kind of game is this?

Sure, there will be cancelled orders, there will be orders that don't process because their method of payment doesn't clear.

But come on people, it's either a racket or incompetence. I've seen it here more than once. When some 'big event' is going on (happens almost every free shipping day), there is a 'glitch in the system' and orders won't process at all or webiste troubles for hours on end.  Or there are times when things sold out completely in every choice, but just hours after the event pricing, most back in stock.

It isn't all cancelled orders when it happens on a large scale like that. It's either strategically being done, or their systems are so lacking they can't function the way they need to.

Either way, it isn't the greatest business practice or best customer experience, both of which will lead to frustrated customers and lack of sales.

No it isn't the biggest problem in the world. How many issues posted on these forums really are? It's a place to let Q know what you see and experience, and if you are satisfied with the experience or not.

Save the righteous indignation for someone else.

It's a forum for telling Q and fellow posters what experiences one has had and their opinions about that experience as it relates to the company.

@Mominohio

This happens way too many times to be a coincidence.  Besides that, I don't believe in coincidences.

Temp-tations Big Deal was sold out before the end of the day, no waitlist popping up. Simply sold out.

But just a couple of hours after the deal goes away, all colors are back on waitlist.

Really?

It was only like a $2 savings and the waitlist might never come through, but how amazing that after the special offer price expires, waitlist in nearly every color suddenly becomes an option.

What kind of a game is this?

I see it a different way. Under QVC's Big Deal and TSV, QVC contracts a set amount with the vendor (even if it's QVC owned).  That may include whether or not waitlist is agreed upon.  When that inventory is gone for that promotion, it's gone.  I'm sure some vendors agree to a waitlist and any amount of product that can be sold.  When the promotion is over, then the next contract agreement goes into place.  That's why waitlist suddenly appeared again.  It's all about the Benjamins (money).  I have to say, though, I was mighty disappointed I couldn't get the Big Deal.  I didn't watch until late in the day and it was sold out.

Re: What kind of game is this?

I would equate this with  "while supplies last" disclaimers on sales.  Only X number of an item is available to the vendor at a particular price or to be sold at a particular price.

I have also heard hosts on HSN say only a certain number of a product is allocated for a particular show and when/if that number it reached the item shows as sold out.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

@Jaspersmom

This is very good thinking and information. It very well could be exactly what you have described, and I never thought of it.

I will say, it doesn't make for very good customer relations, when that next contracted agreed amount shows in inventory in just a matter of hours.

I can see weeks down the road, as people get the products (whatever they are), start showing them on social media, and sharing about them here, generating a lot of interest and demand, that they would 'bring in' the next round. But it really is a bit underhanded to do it in just a couple of hours, when the first round was obviously extremely limited to begin with.
