@Love my grandkids

I think many of us of a certain age and have been let go have similar experiences.
I'm 72 and remember a few times I thought it was the end of the world. No, especially if your over retirement age it can be the best thing to happen, time to start living.

The two hosts leaving are savvy enough to make financial decisions and plans for this time of their life whether for taking it easy or continue with their careers.

I got laid off in 2014 and I couldn't wait to get out of there. They gave us 3 weeks notice before transferring all of the jobs to Atlanta and believe me those 3 weeks were miserable and the longest 3 weeks of my life. I just wanted out. I hated the work, the people always had some kind of drama going on that they felt they had to share, the work was mind numbing, the drive got longer by the day. My husband said I didn't have to go back to work if I didn't want to and I didn't. No more crying on Sunday nights because I had to go to work on Monday, no more lunches to pack, no more having to decide what to wear, no more bosses to micromanage, no more meetings. It is wonderful. I was so glad to get out of there I called HR and requested to be the first one to sign papers so I could be gone by 8am. I didn't want to stick around for anyone or anything.

Qurate laid off 400 employees, many losing a needed paycheck so NO I wouldn't be thoughtless & say, post or even think that.

I'd worry about replacing that income - no one knows the hosts financial situation and the 2 hosts let go are not medicare eligible..health care will be a big issue.

@kitcat51

Carolyn has been treated for Breast Cancer and Dan Hughes has a history of Cardiac issues.  Medical insurance will be of great importance to both of them.  I wonder if the fact that the QVC insurance carrier had to pay out high amounts for their treatments had a role in the decision to let those particular hosts go.  Who knows what goes on behind closed doors.  I am suspicious of large businesses and corporations any more, including the health and medical and insurance industries.

I would worry much more about the employees who were not as well paid with the benefits as Dan and Carolyn. Someone posted that Carolyn and her husband recently purchased an RV, and I believe Dan Hughes has a large farm. By all accounts the longtime hosts live very well, in an upscale area of PA.

They both probably received good packages from QVC. Don't think they're worried about paying for food or paying the bills for a while, especially if they've been smart with their money.

i really liked Carolyn,

She was the one to look to for information needed before buying. She comes across as a thoughtful, caring person and I just know she will be payed forward for all that she has done for friends and family.

I wish her the very best life can bring.

@Mom2Dogs I just can't worry about the finances of two total **strangers** who worked on TV for years. If they didn't save their money, that's on them. Not my problem.
