@Foxxee There are reasons why a recession is being predicted. Wall Street is nervous about the unpredictability of tariffs, companies are laying off people, there is a certain curve that has predicted the last 5 recessions that has now occured and believe it or not, RV sales are down which is a predictor. We are overdue since the last recession happened 10 years ago. The tax cut ran up our deficit and did not put money back into the economy. Most are predicting the recession for 2020 or 2021.

I'd like to read the stats on this because around here, there is a waiting list to get an RV.  Places cannot keep them in stock.  It has been that way for the last severa years around her.  People are on almost 2 year waiting lists to get an RV.

Re: WHILE QURATE STRUGGLES, A COMPETITOR SHINES......

TJ Maxx and Marshalls like most retailers has some clothing brands which are made just for the TJX family of stores.  Most of it is in the Juniors section where low price, style and trend often supercede the shopper's desire for quality.  In the regular misses section one can find a lot of the same brands sold in many of the high end department stores (for example: the licensed brands of Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren green label, etc.).  If the TJ Maxx store is one which carries the Runway Collection it's some steps up from that. The Runway Collection features the kind of  designer fashions where a $700 item elsewhere is $200 at TJ Maxx. I've found some amazing values on All Clad cookware at TJ Maxx.  The jewelry is ok too. Some stores sell real gold and silver pieces.  I recently bought a 14kt gold cross for a very reasonable price.  That said, I like big costume jewelry and have been seeing a lot of interesting pieces at TJ Maxx.

QVC was floundering before Qurate became the parent.  It's the effort to keep 24/7 of live retail fresh that's the problem and repeat hours of the same brands and products might keep the bottom line safe from total collapse, it certainly doesn't inspire sales growth.  With the ability to see retail products from anywhere at any time on our internet connected devices these days, having retail on TV 24/7 is not that big of a deal anymore.

@Imtep.    TJMaxx carries lots of designer names like Theory and others so their merchandise is not just cheap stuff.  Walmart on the other hand is cheap clothing

Tjmaxx is a discounter.  Their products are supposed to marketed at a lower price point.  The gap between regular retail price and the discounted one is narrowing.  Just an observation.

Re: WHILE QURATE STRUGGLES, A COMPETITOR SHINES......

If I'm looking at beauty items and clothes and shoes, then there is no way that TV shopping of any kind could compare to shopping in person at Winners (part of the TJX corp.) or Walmart Canada for beauty items and clothes (not shoes at Walmart).

Walmart Canada has expanded their asian beauty products to be more than just korean sheet masks so that they can compete with T&T Supermarket's selection of asian beauty products in Canada. And surprisingly enough they do carry some nice clothes. I bought some nice leopard print PJ separates at Walmart and some asian beauty products from Walmart too.

Winners carries a large selection of asian beauty products too and I'll see brand name department store beauty products at Winners. I look at batch codes to see how old they are like anything under the Estee Lauder corporate umbrella. Korean products generally have a manufacturing date on them so I think they are good for 3 years after manufacturing.

I will also buy asian sunscreens in person from T&T Supermarket in Canada too and they are really nice and comparable in price to american and canadian sunscreens.

TV shopping simply no longer can compare moneywise when it comes to beauty, clothes, and shoes. I need to try on clothes and shoes for fit. I'm not paying to return things that don't fit. And beautywise, my beauty needs and products I use have changed because my skin changed and I'm a lot happier using asian beauty products or canadian products that have an asian beauty philosophy.

Re: WHILE QURATE STRUGGLES, A COMPETITOR SHINES......

I buy from the Q, but mostly home decor items.  I love Valerie and I buy alot from her.  I live in the country.  To go to a mall, Hobby Lobby, Christmas Tree store, Pier 1 or Home Goods, is well over an hour.  Some of them 2 hours.  I buy my clothes at Wal-Mart or online from J.C. Penney.  The price of clothes on QVC is outragous.  One brand had a tee shirt for $68.  Never in a million years!  I wiould never buy a purse that was more than $ 30 or $ 40.  But that is me and everyone has their "thing".
