I just spent 15 minutes emptying my bagless vacuum and then all the cleanup that is needed afterward. I want to go back to using a vacuum with a bag like how it was when I grew up. It was a quick change to toss the filled bag and put in in a new one. It was quick and clean. I don't care that I have to buy new bags. Worth it.

What is your opinion? Would you prefer to use a vacuum with a bag or do you like your bagless vacuum?

I love my Bissell cordless, bagless vacuum! I have a very large (130 lb) dog that sheds constantly...if I had to change bags I'd be spending a fortune. Seriously, sometimes I have to empty the canister twice just vacuuming the living room! I don't wash the canister and filters every time I use it--probably wash them once every 4-6 weeks, or when I notice it's not picking up very well.

I would not go back to a bacuum with bags, I love the easy Dyson empty and go technology. We need to dump it often but it's easy. We also have a central vac in the motorhome and we have never used it in either of the units that have had it.

I love the ease of dumping the vacuum after I finish a room, it makes life so much easier.

@Sakuya, I love my Oreck with a bag. I have both an upright and a handheld.

I like the cannister vacuums because you can get under furniture so much better.  Miele and Sebo are brands sold  mostly at vacuum stores that are cannister vacuums that also  require bags.  They are on the pricey side but the Sebo I recently purchased has a 7 year warranty.  I also have a place to take it to be serviced and/or repaired.

I'd prefer a bag.  Haven't found a vacuum I truly like in my entire life--LOL!!

@Sakuya - I also grew up with a vacuum with bags. I also had many vacuums with bags over the years. What I have found, however, is that the longevity of vacuums without bags is a lot greater than for those that only work with bags. I think it may very well be because you can literally see how full the bagless vacuum is becoming with dirt, in real time, without having to open up a hatch to see how full a bag has become, so you likely empty the bagless container more frequently than you would for a vacuum with a bag, leading to less problems over time.

We purchased a Miele.  Very nice vacuum but the bag fills up quickly.  I have a palm frond broom that I sweep the carpet more often.

Really would like a second vacuum.  @vermint  what version do you have of the Bissell?

I have an Oreck with a bag.  I never want the mess of a bagless vac.

Re: Vacuum Opinion Question

[ Edited ]

i have bought too many vacuums. I finally settled on the Bissell pet cordless, and also I have the upright Hoover with a bag. I like them both. My only complaint is there is no light on the Hoover, but it works so good. So does the Bissell I got at costco, and it has a light. I have bare floors and carpet. I don't use the cordless on the carpet.
