Unable to cancel yet 2 weeks “in process?”

My guess is that there's a lot of spontaneous purchasing going on right now, but it seems like the Q is taking advantage. How can an order be "in process" immediately after an order is placed, yet delivery is estimated at 2 weeks or more out? Yes, there are shipping delays these days, but "in process" always meant it was truly in process, and usually didn't happen until 3-5 days after you placed an order. Some vendors who ship directly would be in process immediately, but the majority that come from the Q warehouses would take a few days and allow you time to change your mind, for whatever reason. To me, a 2 week ship time, should qualify for "advance order" or "waitlist" and you should be allowed to cancel until the order is actually in process. Example, I mistakenly made a duplicate order 2 weeks ago, and I couldn't cancel one of them immediately after, yet they are both still "in process." Comments?

It is the way they want it.  An order goes "in process" right after it's placed and becomes set in stone...you are not able to cancel, period.  I imagine cancellations, edits, changes, reinstallations are a nightmare in a large automated warehouse.

I've not been caught up in any spontaneous buying of late.  In fact, I've curtailed my clothing shopping, since I have no idea to what extent I'll be able to wear nice, new summer clothes!

It'll take longer if it's coming from a vendor.  Where is the vendor located?  If it's in a state with a lockdown, the vendor can't even get to your order so it'll sit.

I returned something to a vendor in NYC with ShopHQ just before they had their lockdown.  It's still sitting.  I finally called Shop who processed the return anyway since I had tracking proof it was delivered to the vendor.  It was quite a fight to get them to do it but they finally did.
