"Surepost" isn't sure!
It is an economy shipping method, cheaper than UPS. So vendors use it to save more money, of course. The vendor chooses the way they will send a pkg. If they select USPS, UPS will hand it off to Surepost, the dead hole where Surepost holds them until they have enough for a truckload to your destination post office. Then they get delivered to a post office near you, and then to you.
This step by step info was given to me by a person who works for Surepost.
I use UPS service that's $19.99/year to get "upgrades" when the vendor (usually QVC) opts to send them USPS, which will delay them through Surepost.
When UPS gets my pkg from QVC, UPS upgrades it and send it to me directly, usually a couple of days.
I expect Surepost economy mailing will get even worse as DeJoy, the US Postmaster General has stated that beginning 2025 he will order a slow down of USPS deliveries. Maybe Pony Express will make a comeback.

If you google Surepost you will find there may be changes. But it doesn't sound good for people who live in rural areas not commonly serviced by UPS.

@Starliteshine Yeah!!!
I prefer UPS since I can get my packages up to a week prior than sending it SurePost. And my UPS driver is much more efficient than our USPS driver.

@pattypeep wrote:Consequently my last two Q orders were returned to the Q. I am so bummed. UPS refuses to send my USPS orders on to me and had them returned. Let's hope this gets resolved. One of the orders is a pair of IM pants and, of course, they are sold out. Never mind, couldn't re-order and receive them anyway. I also cancelled my Q card because Synchrony Bank is a joke. Use another credit card.
I had the same issue recently. QVC Customer service told me UPS and USPS are in negotiations and has caused this issue recently. I was able to get a replacement shipped right away and added my physical address to my ship to address so hopefully it will get to me one way or the other.
It's been widely talked about in the news that UPS was on strike and that a lot of their problems that they were negotiating was the salary they received and benefits compared to the "inept" postal service. I didn't say it, a neighbor who is a management person with UPS told me that.

I received my replacement order today. The customer service rep who issued the replacement added my physical address as well as the PO Box. Good thing she did because it came with the USPS mail innovations (or whatever it's called) but UPS delivered it directly to me instead of the post office.

@pattypeep wrote:@ It's free or $20 a year? I'm confused. I will check it out, though. Thank you.
The account is free. You can get emails with updates, delivery status, etc.
If you want UPS to keep the packages that are normally given to USPS for delivery, you can add that option for $20 a year.

@CalminHeart Thank you so much for telling me about this. I signed up yesterday. I'll find something I can't live without on the Q and test it. LOL

@loriqvc wrote:@pattypeep - I'm sorry about your situation; it sounds very frustrating! And I'm honestly surprised to hear about it because UPS and the USPS confirmed a huge contract last summer designed to strengthen and expand their partnership in package delivery. My fingers are crossed that your issues get resolved soon.
In the meantime, if you're getting a lot of packages sent via UPS SurePost, you may be interested in signing up for UPS MyChoice Premium. This service allows you to automatically have SurePost packages delivered via UPS without the handoff to the USPS. It costs $19.99 per year, but I have found it to be totally worth the money, even though both UPS and the USPS are great in my area. One note: The upgrade does not apply to UPS Mail Innovations packages; they will still be handed off for final delivery.
I live int he country and our little post office closed a few years ago so we have rural delivery for letters but for pkgs we drive to next town for pick up. I solved that issue a couple years ago by subscribing to the Premium MyChoice, pay the $20. But it's not automatic at least for me. I receive the tracked QVC pkg on MyChoice but I must manually request upgrade - a few clicks and it upgrades to UPS ground home delivery.
