When did product representatives become “Brand Ambassadors”? I noticed this new title recently and even HSN is now using this title.

I noticed it first with the Linea line.  Something new to sound better than "my substitute",  "filling in for XX", "my assistant".

Believe Jennifer Reed with the Linea line was the first Brand Ambassador. Unfortunately, I always forget her title (and everyone elses) and continue to write "Representative" when referring to anyone. Sorry each Brand Ambassador, but it hasn't caught on with my vocabulary yet! Hopefully, my learning curve will catch up in the near future. If not, please bear with a senior citizen who is trying to purchase lovely items from LDO and a few items from the linen lines periodically. That's about all I find anymore.

Brand Ambassador, Brand Ambassador, Brand Ambassador, Brand Ambassador. If I write it enough perhaps it will sink into the grey matter!!

Brand Ambassadors are not necessarily associated with the brand beforehand.  Not too long ago, I was looking at the QVC job postings, and they were looking for Ambassadors.  Anyone could apply.  I'd image they'd have to do some studying ahead of appearing on air.

The people who hand out samples in supermarkets have been called brand ambassadors for years.

Brand Ambassador sounds much better on a resume than Product Representative.

Remember that show years ago where they would compete to be. "Spokesmodels"?

Makes it sound more important. Also, if you notice, everyone is now and expert.

@Johnnyeager ....or sales person. All they do, regardless of title, is get paid to present a product.
