This is interesting re back order

So I ordered two American Leather Mini Marino Crossbody bags two days ago - they were  $99 apiece.  Today they were showing back ordered.  So I went on the Amerian Leather website - the blue oasis one is sold out -  the other one - rose was available - a little higher price but with 15% off first order it came to a good bit less than the QVC price.  Plus free shipping.

The interesting part is I clicked on the blue one on QVC and guess what - it's actually available but for $148.00.  Just one of those things that makes one go hmmmm.

This happened to me recently with an American West turquoise ring.  Not back ordered but it was out of stock in my size.  Yet identical ring diffferent item number was available but more money.

Sneaky stuff by QVC.  Or maybe sketchy.

@FranandZoe 🌻

Did you cancel the back order?

I noticed quite a few items on my Wish List had gone up significantly in the last couple days.

I figure they were getting ready for the 20% off deal.

I guess we really need to know prices, otherwise a deal is really NO Deal !

Re: This is interesting re back order

@FranandZoe,  I think often when an item is offered at an exceptional price the vendor offers it in tightly limited quantities and/or time frames.  Once that allotment is exhausted the item returns to regular price.

This could also apply to colors or even sizes in clothing.

Your last paragraph about the ring seems to support this.

More and more often I am finding disclaimers in sale print ads noting that supplies are limited or while supplies last.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

Re: This is interesting re back order

If a SKU changes, it's from a different order.  The vendor raises their wholesale price, the retailer raises their retail price.  Common practices.  And I agree with @Marp , most of the special deals depend on what deal the vendor may be giving the retailer, hence the price variances.

Re: This is interesting re back order

Thanks everyone.  I do think the difference here was it's the same item number.

I emailed the Social Team and they adjusted the price to the original order - they're really wonderful.
