There are a lot of places that are far worse then QVC.  I started a thread in Fashion about the high s/h from Land's End as well, unless you spend over X dollar amount, which I wasn't.  

And yesterday I had to make a return for something I bought on Amazon.  They dinged me for a $7.41 return fee on a bottle of probiotics.

My sister is an EBay seller. When EBay pushed their sellers to offer free shipping, they gave sellers a heads up months in advance so sellers could raise their prices to absorb the shipping costs. My sister raised her prices a flat $5 even though the items she sells ship for $4 or less. Her sales increased because people think they are getting free shipping. In reality, her prices were lower and the overall cost was less when her buyers paid for shipping. I think we are now geared toward expecting free shipping but it comes with a cost. My sister now makes an extra $1 on each sale. Might not seem like much but those $1 add up quickly.
