I have been using Rogaine faithfully for the last 3 years, what I have noticed is that it is not so much making new hair growth in the thinning areas but preventing any more hair loss in those troubled spots. I also use Toppik X-Fusion Keratin Hair Fibers to help fill in the thinning areas.

I don't have thinning hair but drinking LonoLife bone broth has thickened my hair, helps with my skin too in it's firmness and texture.
Who knew I just drank it starting last year to lose a few lbs preparing for a reunion.
I drink it everyday, only 50 calories and 10g collagen protein.

I have been diagnosed with lichen Planus on my scalp which results in a scarring alopecia. I've seen two dermatologists sine 2017 and here is what has been rx'd for me.
Betamethasone Propitionate liquid at the hairline
jaks inhibitor on scalp and hairline
Docycycline 100mg 1/day
Spironolactone
Rogaine...at frontal hairline and on top of scalp
These are supplements I take that have made a noticeable difference:
Lessman marine collagen peptides with msm
Dr Amy Meyers PaleoProtein
" Collagen
various vitamins for hair, skin and nails

I've always had fine hair but when I went thru menopause, got divorced and moved across the country all in one month I really started losing hair down the shower drain. It was sickening and scary. I finally started looking at wigs but I just didn't want the hassle . I tried minoxidil but had a reaction to my blood pressure medicine which made me feel like I was having a heart attack. SO I got a Hairmax. It actually worked! My hairdresser comments on how much more hair I have. You have to be consistent with it. At the beginning I would forget to do it after a month, and then start up again which just puts you back at the start again. If you are consistent for a few months you will see the difference. Really !

It is important to have your thyroid levels checked by a doctor. This is a blood test. Too much or too little thyroid hormone causes hair to thin.
Some women, especially after menopause, can have hair thinning caused by too much DHT on the scalp. Amazon has quite an extensive selection of DHT blocking shampoos. They do help. There are also DHT blocking supplements...did see Nutrafol mentioned here.
Low levels of zinc and selenium contribute to hair thinning. Higher levels of biotin do help. Scalp massaging increases the blood flow to the scalp. Obviously eating a healthy diet is important. Also see here that several have had success with the laser lights on the scalp.
It is a frustrating journey, no doubt, but there are things available that do slow down the thinning process or even stop it.

When any of you who take supplements by mouth noticed an increase in facial hair? Just wondering. I mean if they help grow hair on the head wouldn't it increase hair every where?

rockygems123,
LonoLife sounds good on a day like today. Is this an Amazon item or where can I purchase?
Thanks, Seannie

Well, I can tell you what didn't work for me - Nutrafol. It was suggested by my dermatologist. After 6 months of consistent use I can say that the only change has been to my bank account, paying for this expensive supplement. I'm now trying a higher dose of just biotin, but I don't really have high hopes. I'll be paying close attention to this thread.

Trim Healthy Mama collagen. My sister started taking it and she has the thickest silver hair. She is 64.

I started noticing real hair loss over a year ago, and went to see a hair loss doctor. I had a biopsy taken of my scalp ( ouch!) I was diagnosed with Androgenic Alopecia. I was put on Finasteride pills that are by prescription, and specially formulated drops from the doctor. It has taken a year, but my hair has filled in to the point my mom asked if I was wearing clip in extensions to thicken up my hair. It's so incredibly hard to deal with. I cried for 5 days when I was diagnosed. I couldn't find any wigs that looked natural on me, and I thought I'd be housebound due to embarassment. I had to give the medication time, and finally saw results.
If your hair loss is getting worse, try seeing a doctor. It made such a difference in my life!
Good luck!
