Can anyone give personal ( a product you are using and gotten results)suggestions for shampoos etc for thinning hair. I've tried a few and nothing has done what it claims to do. I'm starting to believe there is really nothing to help with thinning hair. Appreciate any suggestions anyone has.

I wish a shampoo would give a boost for thinning hair, but that has not been my experience.  I use laser (a Theradome), eat a healthy diet and, in some cases, supplements will help depending on why your hair is thinning.

Best wishes for lots of healthy hair!

@januarybaby I don't have any advice about thinning hair---but you might get more responses if you post this on the Beauty Forum.

I started using Nioxin 1 (non-colored hair) a few months ago and can tell a difference, though nothing dramatic. I don't have as much hair to clean out of the tub drain after washing. I like how it gets my hair clean without stripping it.

Nioxin is meant to work with heat - hair dryers, stylers, etc. I usually let my hair air dry though. If I style it instead of air drying, it does show a better difference.

I also use the Nioxin 1 conditioner on the bottom half of my hair and then a leave in conditioner all over. My favorite leave in is Matrix purple for gray hair - it makes the gray shine, hair softer without going limp, and controls static/frizz.  Redken bonding leave-in is also good.

My sister, mother, and I were using biotin supplements but it wasn't until my sister discovered that the 10,000 mcg's was making a difference with more hair growth, not just the lesser amounts.

It had always worked for nails in the lower amounts but this made a difference for all of us.

Re: Thinning Hair

[ Edited ]

While I wear wigs now....the best thing I ever used to get a fuller looking head of hair was:

NIOXIN...scalp &hair treatment #2.  I was getting thinner on the top all the time so it didn't thicken my hair but my hair "looked" so much thicker when I used  this.

Has anyone used Minoxidyl in pill form? I know it is available but it seems not to be used too often.  Do you know if there are side effects? It seems easier than applying it to the scalp daily.
