The question is "do the other companies let people go taking seniority into account"?   Not the numbers.

Great post. Yes,  we have to learn from the authorities, don't we. Never mind that 2 great hosts were not allowed to retire with the dignity they deserved. Instead they were treated very badly - just like employees that had committed some shameful thing or never measured up, but we all know that is not true. They were excellent at their jobs.

A callous, unthinking corporate decision was made & let's hope "what goes around comes around."

@bestday  & @Irmasdc   AGREE TOTALLY.

@Othereeeen - Good of you to tell people to "get out more".  Not that you have any way of knowing what others' lives are like.  A bit high-handed and judgemental, isn't that?

As to "It's TEEVEE people NOT real life" - there are real human beings behind that TEEVEE screen.  That's what concerns some viewers.

No need to belittle or mock those who feel differently about what's happened to them.

@Venezia  Very well put .

The OP has her point of view. That's fine, but many of us don't feel that way. We feel the way we feel....and that's it.

We do not know how they were "allowed" to retire. Some people do not want a lot of hoopla, they just want to take the retirement package and run.

There were a few people that thought these changes were coming.

OK here goes....since a few posters think I'm unkind to make comments about people on this forum who think teevee personalities are family or more... so upset that they almost need sedation to deal with C+D's departure from QVC...They're gonna stop buying, they cancelled orders, they called Customer Service (!!) they emailed Sr. Management.

A long time host on QVC looked into the camera on Friday night, and warned NOT to "threaten" her children.

It appeared offhanded at first, but then, it has become clear that just because THIS site won't post threatening posts to REMIAINING host's ( They should've took YOU)  or their families, or suggest others should have been let go, or whatever, doesn' t mean that other un-or poorly- moderated sites won't allow such threats.

YES the host in question brings up her own kids time and time again, so in effect, opens them up to commentary.

But the comments on OTHER sites must be concerning enough to her, she mentioned it.

Note: I do NOT care for this host, and when she did it, I thought it was part of her act.

Then, over the weekend, more and more commenters HERE told of extremely nasty and concerning posts on Farcebook and other sites, about the choice of WHO was laid off, about why the decisions were made, about the makeup of QVC's current lineup of TEEVEE personalities.

Why is this?

In part, because people vest TOO MUCH worth into teevee personalites. Not only on QVC. But this is QVC's board so here it is.

Hosts are NOT family. They are SALES PEOPLE.

QVC made a business decision made every day in this country.

QVC is part of the capitalistic business model MOST of us want and enjoy....at least that's what we read every single day.

It was NOT unfair.

It was NOT personal.

It was NOT your family member.

Just think what angry and deranged people DO today when they percieve unfairness or that they didnt' get thier way in life.

That's part of why I beleive the hosts were told NOT to mention thier imminent departure on thier shows.

Look how viewers HERE, on a moderated site, lost their minds and went nuts over the layoffs. Not concern. Out and out outrage!!! How could they DO this?!?!?!

QVC had to worry about the OTHER employees at the QVC campus.

Over TeeVee personalities.

NOT family. NOT friends.

Employees. Like most of us are or were, doing what our bosses told us to. Sell sell sell.

SO YES I am concerned when I see the NUMBER of posts from people who ARE losing it over these layoffs.

And it also concerns me that the terms of thier leaving has been released in MANY ariticles, that anyone can read...they are NOT getting the shaft from the company.

Anyone can go to Qurates website, under Careers, and SEE what benefits the company if offering  as far as benefits.

That's why I get a little ticked off.

GROW UP people. They're TEEVEE Hosts.

Not family. Not neighbors. Not Friends.

And NONE of them would give a whit or write ONE SYLLABLE if YOU were laid off from your job.

So take a chill pill for heaven's sake.

And order something TODAY so they stay in business.

THAT is the ONLY thing that will help  QVC stay in business and NOT have to let MORE people go.

I'm not sure if the hosts were laid off or let go. Does anyone here know for certain? If one is laid off he/she can collect unemployment. Although a small percentage of one's income, it helps. I think unemployment insurance in PA is 52 weeks.

Maybe rather than getting rid of good hosts that actually explain the product, give you all the product information to make an informed decisions (most hosts don't anymore they just tell you there opinion about what works for them or how many are left)  May the company should focus on fixing there customer service and quality assurance and maybe all the people they ran off with their terrible service would consider giving them them a second try.  But as long as they have no customer service that actually can assist a person other than take a note, and actually fix the problem you are expericing they will continue to lose money.  Front line customer service people are good at what they do but they can't do much.  They have get a hold of their inventory control, return and exchange process.  The iniventory contorl makes returns and exchanges more necessary.  It shouldn't be up to a customer to call them and tell QVC there was a problem with their order when it is stuck in the system or when they send you the wrong thing (which has happened 10 days in the lat 4 weeks to me) and then make the customer do all the work to get it fixed and then they charge you 6.95 to return their mistake (I know they are  not suppose to but it happens all the time, watch your returns you have to call to get them to fix it).  There is no communication when there is a delay or back order.  You can not talk to anyone beyond the first customer service person, it is like they don't want to know all the problems they have, hence layoffs.  I have never delete with any other online retailer who does business like this.  There is no proactive thinking or processes, they seem to use technology to help them and their customers.  They  appear to me they don't want to get better, the answer to their many of their problems is how they treat their customers once they place an order (if you actually get it) no the good hosts who actually do a good job informing their audience about the item.  I for one will be rethinking any future purchases, it is just too much work on my part and now they get rid of parts that made it tolerable   Saying sorry no longer does it for me.
