We just caught this on HBO & it exceeded our expectations. I really don't remember it coming out nor heard much buzz. It's a musical- more of the theatre production than the original movie. I liked the screenplay, the music, the acting, the dancing, the cinematography, the costumes. A lot of talent. Newer Director talent too. It's curious to me why it didn't do better at the box office. Recommend.

It came out in theaters on Xmas Day, I dont think it was a huge hit, came and went very quick.

I liked it, but no where near as much as I liked the original. I realize this was different, more like a musical. The acting was very good, not sure why it didn't do better.
