Sold OUT...or false advertising

Yersterday I saw a sterling silver necklace,that had customer top ratings.Mary Beth was the hostess,for the show.The necklace,according to the host was sold out.Today I go on line to see if there is a waiting list for the necklace,and GUESS WHAT...there it is and the only difference is the price .All of a sudden itis not sold out,but the price is up.How could something be sold out and appear the next day at a higer price.I am disppointed in QVC!

Re: Sold OUT...or false advertising

My guess is 1) people cancelled their orders by the end of the day, and 2) might have been special pricing that expired that day.  Again, just my guess.

@Krimpette

And/or there were just a specific number of items available at the special price ... and those are what sold out.

I would likely attribute this to cancelled orders too. When you put an item in your shopping cart it’s counted as sold, and if you don’t complete the ordering process it goes back into inventory, according to a helpful CS rep. Lots of indecisive buyers in this time of gift giving.

Re: Sold OUT...or false advertising

With all the reasons for happening that you ladies listed I would think that there could be a wait list so that people who tried to order during the show have a chance of acquiring the unsold item at the advertised special price.   If their computer system was working properly the wait list could be honored quickly as soon as they knew how many items had actually been sold.  I have been on wait list many times elsewhere.  Sometimes I get my purchase, sometimes I do not.  My choice to wait.

This ^^^

They allocate say 150 items that will be sold at the special price, like a flash sale. When those are gone, the price will go back up.

It is, however, obnoxious to do this with no hint of what’s occurring and why. It really does border on flat-out dishonesty.

Re: Sold OUT...or false advertising

Whenever there is something I want and they announce it as sold out, I still go check online.  Most of the time I can order it or at least get on waitlist.  If it's not available when I look online, I just continue to check online for the next few days.   I think what they announce on air is really just QVC's best guesstimate of what is available.

@mosky  If you really want the necklace, you could email the mods to see if they will do a waitlist order at yesterday's price.  I think I've  read that other people have done that.  The mods email is:  QVCSocialTeam@qvc.com

@moskyWhen I tried to order the recent  IT TSV in fair, I was told Sold Out and no waitlist...it was online the next morning at higher price. After speaking w/ CS, they gave me TSV price w/ e/p and free shipping.

I was told to check back as many as 3 days after items sell out & they’ll stand by original price if people changed minds, colors, or canceled, it’s back in stock on their computers.

@mosky,

I have also wondered why this happens, it would be also nice to have a discount price warning like at HSN?🌻

Re: Sold OUT...or false advertising

Once something is sold out and then they have it, I don't order that. It means to me someone returned it for some reason, and I just don't take a chance on it.
