He has an aggressive cancer and only a few weeks to live. It is very heartbreaking.

@elated - I'm so sorry. Do you know what kind? I'd like to get DH's take on this.

When Jill posted she didn't clarify it. I know she said he had stomach issues. She said he wasn't eating.

I do not follow Jill but I am always an animal advocate.

I am not sure if any person or vet can truly predict how long an animal will live.

Many cancers are aggressive, and without any treatment, most will be fatal.  If the dog had ongoing stomach issues, perhaps that should have been investigated sooner.

The dog is quite young and seems to still be functioning.

Right now my 15 year old cat is on chemotherapy.  He also has aggressive cancer in multiple organs. The oncologist vet wasn't sure if he would make it two weeks--it is now more than three months.

It is a financial, time and emotional commitment to undertake all these medical efforts, and I understand why many people will decide not to pursue them.

But I never give up hope until I am sure I have tried my very best--and received expert second opinions.

I wish her and her dog the best.
