'tging' is most likely a mispelling and was supposed to be 'thing'

(g and h are next to each other on the keyboard)

The OP specifically stated the articles said CANADA. The reason why I & others requested the source.

There was talk about qvc airing in Canada relative to trade OLD agreements - pre-2020. I wonder if OP read something that was old.
