I am really disappointed because there used to be free shipping on plants.  The free shipping made buying on QVC worthwhile.  It is actually cheaper to get the same plants from another online retailer or garden center.

Re: Shipping charge on plants

I've ordered only a few plants on QVC, but they were all free shipping. Which plants don't have free shipping?

I don't buy plants on QVC or HSN.  The couple of times I did, I received either DOA or almost dead plants.  And then the following year, Roberta's sent me weeds as a replacement.

@Icegoddess I am with you. I've bought them and they have died, I swear never to do it again and until last year that did not happen. But I have broken the habit, I buy locally here in town from a family owned shop.

@Icegoddess   I do cider myself a great gardener.  But no luck with qvc, the worst stock I have ever received. My daughter has ordered from the Q and had decent luck.  I am in California, and I just go to the one nursery left, lol. I think root stock is important. Plants need good genes, good roots to do well. Everything has gone up though, even at nursery, due to bad weather and Covid and lack of migrant help closed many places propagating plants

@Northerngal Not sure which plant you were looking at since you didn't state but the majority are free shipping. I found over 500 with free shipping. I do believe it is always good to shop around though and check out other online retailers as well as your local garden center.

I don't buy many plants on QVC but they do sell many we don't have available here. Those are the plants I purchase, one's not available locally.

@shoekitty, l buy a lot from Bluestone Perennials.

I do shop locally, but most don't carry a lot of shade plants.

Another vote for not buying plants online.

The tree I bought came thrown in a box with the roots hanging out--no dirt, no protection.  It died within a short time after being planted. Never again.

I have found great luck with local nurseries, and sometimes even big box stores like Home Depot, where I bought some hydrangeas many years ago that are now almost five feet tall!

We have oodles of gardeners and nurseries around here--in fact this week is the historic and  famous Philadelphia Flower Show!!
