I doubt any "younger" person is going to wear smaller framed glasses.

They are dated and no longer the current style. Right now, bigger and stand out frames are favored.  Many folks own more than one pair.  They are worn as accessories now.

They are in style if you want to look like a cartoon, and want people to only see glasses and not the person wearing them.

Because it is "popular" doesn't mean you look good.  If you want proof, go back and look at dress from the late 1970's and 80's. Yeah, that ought to do it.
