I have an olive complexion and the right red lip looks good on me.  Too many are either too dark or too orange so I am often looking for the right shade. 

I can't wear nudes since they totally wash me out. I tend to wear a berry shade for everyday. I'm fortunate that at 70 I don't have lip lines nor have my lips thinned out.

Nude lipstick doesn't work for many.   Years ago, Shawn went through a phase where all she wore was nude lipstick.  There were numerous comments on this forum where she needed color on her lips.  When she finally decided to wear color, it was such an improvement.

I am also a fan of painted red lips for women.  Love it.  I am very fair with cool undertones.  Finding a good red for me can be difficult.  Doesn't stop me though.

Red looks great on just about everyone, but you need the right shade.

There are cool reds and warm reds.  You have to get it right for your completion, or it will look just awful.

I thought Shawn looked amazing with that red shade on her lips. Her hair looked great too.  She looked stunning.

@lovesallanimals - I agree, the red lip is lovely on Shawn.   Red lips have always looked horrible on me even when I had a fuller lip.  I love the red lip on those that can wear it & was always envious of those that could.  The one person who does not look good to me is Melissa; it seems to overwhelm her tiny face.  Courtney can wear a red lip & seems to be about the same size & they both have dark hair so I don't know why I don't care for it on Melissa.

She wears the wrong shade.  She is beautiful, but everytime I see her with red lips, I want to tell her that it's the wrong shade for her.
