I tried to see if this question was ever answered. didn't see any

i have tried self tanners in the past but i don't like the way they "wash off"

are there any that just kind of fade away  like a natural tan would

especially around the ankle area

I have tried many self tanners with no success---can't stand the smell that happens within a few hours on my skin--must be some chemistry between me and the product. Most of the color  came off over a few days of not re- applying and then showering---so I guess that is fading. Maybe around those areas like the ankles, knees, elbows-- keep the product longer due to the type of skin and how those areas are used more. I use bronzers now--when I use them--they stay on until you shower.

I gave up on self tnners years ago, and learned to stay out of sun and just accept my paleness. They are way too time consuming, not worth my time and patience.

@Shelbelle , I agree.  I always get tempted by the Tan Luxe presentations, but I know I won't take the time to exfoliate first or apply properly.  i do have some Westmore Beauty fake tan lotion that I can apply to my upper arms to camoflage farmer tan if I ever wear something sleeveless. That washes off and I really can't imagine trying to apply it all over althugh you could.  I just know I'd never get it even all over.  Would really like to have tanned legs though.

In a way it depends how hard you scrub yourself in the shower.  Even the professional booth spray tans didn't do much better.

@Bettyanne  - Maybe you'll get more responses if you move this thread to the beauty forum.

When I did use a self tanner I found Tan Towels sold on HSN to be the best and most natural looking with a pleasant smell. I don't know if they are still sold there.  No goopy mess to apply, justt rub your skin with a towels.

I’m with @Shellbelle, I no longer self tan and just accept my pale skin. Not worth the trouble.
