I like others have several hosts that I cannot watch anymore. I am sure that they are watching what a host sells, but it is hard for me to believe they would keep any host on that isn't selling. I wasn't active on the boards in 2014. So I never knew of any of this. My comments are mostly geared towards the people that bash the hosts and then complain when their post goes poof!
I never followed anyone on facebook. I go to facebook to talk to my friends and family, and I know for awhile the hosts seem to be pushing facebook and that turned me off. Facebook is not the safest place to be. I never realized that they watched their facebook pages but that makes sense as to why they keep telling us to go there. I will not participate with that. If I was an owner, I would watch their sales also. I mean this is a shopping channel. See I have never looked at the program guide , so I had no clue that they even did that. I guess they have to do what they need to in order to keep the company going.
Im with you about Facebook.....I use it primarily to look at photos of my relatives and keep in touch wit those that live out of State. And I wouldnt even do that but a Non-Profit Organization I volunteer for, insists on this for communication purposes and to conduct live meetings for an easy way to keep the group connected.
QVC started this whole campaign that the hosts are our friends, and how QVC is family (supposed to be a gimmick to drive up sales) and what better way to connect than with Facebook to give all the BFFs a peek into their host's personal lives to create this artificial bond. But this doesnt work for me, I view them as sales people, and some are more pleasant to watch--- so if there's a product Im interested in I might watch QVC. But like you, those hosts that annoy me, I wont watch & Ill find something else to do.
Qs CEO in an interview explained this was a way to keep up with the times and possibly draw in a younger demographic.....
Per Mike George. CEO--In a Vista Today interview with Ken Knickerbocker ...."Over the next five years, we’ll continue to integrate cutting-edge social media and digital experiences with traditional TV experiences. Beauty iQ is our first category-dedicated network and the only beauty network of its kind in the U.S. Our product presentations are focused on tutorials and the efficacy of the product and has a little of a “beauty blogger meets QVC” vibe to it. We’re simulcasting it on Facebook Live, hoping to reach a different generation of consumers who may not have cable TV. Unlike traditional TV, we can see and respond to viewers’ Facebook comments and shares, giving us an interactive and organic engagement with our customers."
@this is my nic I dont know which host you are speaking of that was moved, but I know one that has been given LOTS of prime time shows since they think she'll draw in the busy young moms since she falls into that demographic.(I cant stand her ). I noticed a tenured host that has been moved to late nights. Both are channel changers for me.
Instead of playing these games, perhaps QVC should give a listen to what a lot of their customers are saying. Even implementing a FEW might improve things for BOTH QVC and their customers!!!!
I think QVC treads lightly when a host's contract isnt renewed, years ago there was a lawsuit filed by a fired host, Gwen Owens. The judge ruled male hosts got the best time slots so there was a form of discrimination. What is ironic many years after that case, hosts that were let go were male--- Dave King, BobBowersox, Dave James....(Dave James was well liked by viewers too)--- Some female hosts left of their own accord......Kathy Levine, Judy Crowell, Laurie (who now is the Mrs. Prindable's Rep), Patty Riley, and LR..
And with this post Ill move on to other topics. Take Care.

@Spurt That is very interesting. You taught me a lot.

I think they should pay more attention to these forums.
Although most viewers don't post, this board represents a lot of them. Anything anyone posts here isn't unique to the poster. Others will have the SAME view even if they don't post.
Since we can't name hosts, I don't know who people are mentioning! And since I only watch after midnight, I don't know what goes on except for that time frame. I just stopped watching for the most part. Couldn't even stay with the gold day, and I used to watch a lot of that.

Today must be an "off day",lol. I was typing away on a thread, then noticed a big red sign saying "read only". I couldn't figure out what happened. So then I see it was locked, as I was typing. Then I scan down the forum titles & see MANY locked threads. I wish they would just delete, instead of locking. Locking only peaks curiosity, lol.
I'm having an off day myself, so I think I will leave this board alone today.

I have read that there are formulas that companies use regarding customer input. Unfortunately, I can't quote it exactly. Just to give an example, say a company receives 25 negative comments, that 25 actually represents X many more. Same for positive comments. Obviously, not everyone is going to take the time to make a phone call, send a letter, or enter an opinion on a website. Therefore, the info received from customers is taken very seriously, if it's not, the company is ignoring valuable feedback.

@this is my nic Our likes and dislikes are right here on these forums and nothing changes. I assume they aren’t read or taken into account by management.

I agree with you, @Shanus. We've seen the same complaints for years and it's hard to see any actual changes that took place that we can prove were a direct result of repeated comments on the forums. I don't believe QVC uses the feedback here for much of anything. It's far too easy for people to create multiple accounts to make it appear there's support for an opinion, and using anonymous free-text posts in all these sub-forums would be incredibly hard for any business to tabulate or verify credibility. I do think some of the detailed, specific suggestions for products, types of shows, that sort of thing, are passed along by the moderators, but I think the bulk of the daily complaining is simply ignored (or removed if it's deemed inappropriate).
With so many other sites closing out their forums and chat boards, I have to wonder if the tilt toward negativity here might eventually result in the demise of the QVC Community. Looking at the posts about products, sometimes it seems there's more advertising for other sites and for merchandise QVC doesn't carry than there is for Qurate companies and products, so it's free advertising for everyone, including their competition. The cost of this forum, financially and with regard to public relations, could outweigh any benefits.

@dooBdoo. Why not look at products/sites we’re mentioning in posts & make an attempt to get a few of those on Q? A show of good faith, if nothing else. Where the products are for the right price is where our money is going.

We vote with our purchasing or lack thereof. I don't buy anywhere near the amount I once did from QVC. While I occasionally purchase a small item, the big purchases are no more. We have a lovely downtown with stores selling home decor, womens clothing, jewelry, and accessories. There is also an outlet shopping center that has shoes, clothing stores for the whole family, Vera Bradley bags, designer bags and shoes, kitchen items; all I once bought from the Q. Now, I support businesses right here and no S&H!
