I have never lived close to a Dooney outlet store, but I  read that the store in question .(why a store in such a tiny state!) was a mess, anyway. Maybe they sell enough of that as-is stuff online these days, and they probably didn't have enough business there. A major metro area would make more sense.

.    I don't know where that would have been written. I have been there many times and it is always clean and tidy and located in a nice outlet shopping center.  The sales people are generally helpful and nice it is a shame that jobs will be lost.

Also many outlets are located in tourist areas and many near ocean towns? I have been to great outlets in Hilton Head and Florida.

I've been to that outlet many times, and I too think it was kind of dumpy and disorganized. The last time I was there, there wasn't even a try-on room. It was closed.

Re: Rehoboth Beach Outlet closing!

The Rehoboth QVC outlet used to be poorly lit and a bit disorganized. However, a year ago the entire store was re-organized and remodeled. Now it is really nice! The employees have always been wonderful, and I will miss them, especially Maddie, the manager.  They were shocked and disappointed to be told of the closing. Yes,their rent went up, but, c'mon, it's QVC, and if the other 200 stores can afford the rent, I think the QVC giant can too.  Those outlets are always really busy. The writer who said they probably aren't busy enough does not realize that Rehoboth is the weekend beach for Washington DC people. It's not a tiny area.

Yes, the D&B handbags never are displayed well at the QVC outlet; they are crammed into a locked cabinet. The Dooney outlet, though, is beautiful!  It's up Rt 1 and across the road......I love going there, and always buy a handbag at a great price.

I wish QVC would reconsider.......do it for us, QVC!!!  Your loyal shoppers! LOL

Re: Rehoboth Beach Outlet closing!

i agree @65and fabulous.....i would love for them to change their mind and keep the store open.

finally got in there about two weeks ago and bought quite a few items.....some household, some jewelry. didnt even have time to look at the clothing and did a quick sweep of the handbags.

the lady in the jewelry section said that qvc is making some "cuts" and that they are trying to move some of their operations overseas.

will have to get back there before november. i want to do some christmas shopping.

Re: Rehoboth Beach Outlet closing!

I stopped in this afternoon and I have to say that I found some of the pricing quite high.  Some of the handbags (those in the case) were as high as $400.  I also was looking for some bedding and saw a Full Tim Gun set, which was lovely, but was over $200.  Did not see the King bedding that I need.   They were selling a lot of air purifiers, which were apparently 70 percent off.

While I would like for the store to stay, high prices will drive people to the other outlet options.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

Re: Rehoboth Beach Outlet closing!

I sent a letter to QVC Corporate and would encourage other devastated Q shoppers to do the same. They just remodeled the store (!) and now want to close it. This is real loss to the shopping community in DE and hopefully with enought of an outcry, maybe they will reconsider. It's worth a try.

Re: Rehoboth Beach Outlet closing!

I live in Connecticut, but grew up in Delaware. When the one Wilmington closed I was heart broken. Even though I live in CT I visit the store 6-8 times a year. Now Rehoboth is closing. Saddened again. I have many fond memories about the people in line on cold Black Friday mornings. We had a lot of laughs.

I can't believe they are closing this store.  What are they thinking????  They just renovated it a year ago.  I go in this store at least once a week.  I'm in there so much, I'm on a first name basis with a lot of the store personnel.  I don't think I have ever left the store without buying something.  It's always crowded, even in the winter.  The deals are soooooooo goooooood.  I've shopped the "as is" items on the website -- no where near the deals I've gotten in the outlet store.  I'm not as likely to buy something "as is" from the website as I was to buy items from the outlet store -- I could see what I was getting in the store -- there are no taxes, and no shipping and handling charges.   I just don't get it.  It will be a sad, sad day in December.  For once, I wish they would listen to their customers.

Re: Rehoboth Beach Outlet closing!

@libbyannE Well, we may be a tiny state but Rehobeth beach  is a very popular resort and add to that we have tax-free shopping.  Q used to have an outlet store in northern Delaware also that they closed, to my regret, a few years ago.  When I went there I was always amazed at all the PA license plates on the cars of shoppers.  No sales tax is a big draw!
