Re: Received QVC Email "Price Drop Alert"

My best guess @BunSnoop , since I would not go so far as to say QVC is lying, the purse was no longer at sale price. Perhaps when you saw it originally it had a special offer. Then, the price increased and now decreased again.

I can always check the fluctuations in prices when I shop. You can see with these particular AL purses by the graphs below to the right, they DID indeed drop in price, several times.

Many different sales are offered at different times, you just have to pick the price that's right for you and go for it.

@cjm61   Where did you find the graphs on the price fluctuations?

This is a great.

It's probably an app.  I use Keepa which works for Amazon, but not for other sites as far as I know.

ETA:

It looks like Honey is the only browser extension that works for sites other than Amazon and Ebay.  Be aware that Honey has been in the spotlight for hijacking affilliate links (not sure how that works0, but you could still use it for price tracking.

The email states "price drop alert - fresh markdown on finds you and your wallet will love".     It was for an American Leather purse I had in my wishlist.   However, the price went UP about $4, it did not "drop".    I think that's a terrible gimmick to try to make a sale - as it's a lie as the statement is not true.

@BunSnoop I got a similar email a while back and although the price had dropped, the shipping had increased... Fun and games... Smiley Wink

@Lisa Y @Icegoddess

Not an app. I use my desktop and it's included with Microsoft Edge. For the longest time I didn't pay attention to the notification. When shopping online for "most" items it automatically pops up. It's very accurate and will also state if I can find the item cheaper. It gives me the price as well as the business elsewhere. It's very accurate with one exception. It doesn't include shipping. So, an item may say it's several dollars cheaper but when I go to check it out it ends up more expensive due to the added shipping.

Re: Received QVC Email "Price Drop Alert"

Agree, the emails are not accurate. They watch your wishlist, items you may have put in your basket but did not check out, or browsing history and send you an email stating something has dropped in price.  The first time I checked, I fell for it because the item had been presented over the weekend at "X" value with free shipping, so I figure it dropped since the presentation and went to the site.  The price had not changed and no longer free shipping.

Personally, between the 5-6 email updates I get on an order ("it is shipping", "it has shipped", "you should see it shortly", "it has arrived"....) and the emails about "dropping in price", "did you forget?" something in your checkout, etc. I think Q communicates too much about the things are not tremendously important. Send me an email with the tracking number when the items ships, I know how to click a link to follow it's travels.  More importantly, give information during presentations about materials, sizing, rise (which they never do anymore for pants) inseam and factual ship dates.  They have to know depending what warehouse they ship from, how long an item is going to take to arrive.  Be up front about it when an order is placed and allow it to easily be cancelled within 48 hrs. from the app or online.

Re: Received QVC Email "Price Drop Alert"

I bought NYDJ jeans at a great price after getting one of these emails.  The price was great and they still had my size (many sizes were sold out).  A few days later, I was looking around .com when saw the same jeans, in another color, at the same price; I guess it was permanent price cut.  I'm fine with that; they sent me a chambray-like color in the email.  I wouldn't have purchased the dark demin I saw later (their AI is paying attention, LOL).

But WHY NO other online retailer does ALL that you’re asking. 🥴
